What knives do y'all regret selling/trading because you didn't give them enough of a chance, yet can't bring yourself to rebuy?

I've been through a lot of knives, and have gotten rid of them for various reasons.

I loved my Strider SnG, had to sell it to pay bills two years ago. If they ever make one with a thinner blade in z wear or pd1, maybe.

I wish I had given the Sebenza more of a chance. I assumed buying lightly used it would be broken in. I only gave it a week. If they ever release a wood inlay insingo version, I'll be all over it, see if once broken in I could get enough grip on the thumbstuds to open it.

I only gave the Southard 3 days. Hated it. 2 years later, I still wonder.

My biggest regret in general is selling my ZT 0561. Now that they are scarce, many times I've considered an 0562 to replace it. We'll see.

Original Buck Nighthawk and Vanguard. I owned them before getting into knives on a larger scale. Sold the Vanguard at a garage sale, and the Nighthawk I sold at a loss on the Bay. I don't like re-buying knives I have previously owned so I guess these are lost to me. I understand now how great they both were.

I carried a plain, slab-sided CRK large Classic Sebbie for over a year. Sold it on a whim; was a beautiful knife and SO SMOOTH. I've had lots of Sebbies since then; never another one that nice. The pain remains.

Only 2 I've ever regretted selling. My Puma 4 star folders.

My sprint pm2 from cutlery shoppe. I didn't like the coated blade. Now I have a small handful of sprint pm2's and wish I still had it. [emoji853]

I had a small Laconico clip point non-flipper -very sweet, thin, light carry. My eyes are always scanning the exchanges in case it comes up-just missed it once.

Benchmade Limited run of 940 with carbon fiber/D2. I bought 6 of them for $120 a pop back then and resold them for double my money. Wished i'd kept them they go for $500 now! I'd never spend that for one though.

Personally, I have more regrets for knives I've bought rather than sold. I look at a few and wonder "why the hell did I spend money on that??":D

If you bought a standard wood inlay Seb, you can send it to CRK and they will swap the blade out with an Insingo for about $100. They will send you back the knife with both blades:thumbup:

None, seriously. I tend to hang on to knives too long! I keep thinking everybody raves about this knife I must be missing something. Then after a year or two I give them away.

The only knife I regret selling was a PERFECT specimen Strider SMF I got from a very good friend in a trade.

Used the hell out of it, should have never sold it.

I too have those I regret buying as well. Dpx heat is one of them. Especially when I want to like something so badly, but one flaw keeps me from holding on to it. I've learned my lesson. I've always like Benchmades Nakamura 484, but the thumbstud bothered ne, online it looked too much like the 530, which I hated. A local store I don't frequent much had the CF/S90v version for well under the msrp and online prices, and though it fit my hand perfectly, those thumbstuds pissed me off. So I resisted, glad I did.

Some of the knives I've sold I should have waited a few months to sell, would have gotten more for them. I look at the cost for a ZT 0560/1 and am agog.

I really regret buying these two spring assisted knives. Very expensive for what you get, and I sold them for a huge loss. I just had to get rid of them though! Could have bought some amazing knives for the money, but I was just getting into high end knives and didn't know enough yet.

I have sold a few Fortis knives. Then I found out the best way to sharpen them. Luckily the secondary market was in my favor and I was able to re-buy two of them. Would never let them go now!! I can get and keep them hair popping sharp with such little effort, I love it!

One that I really wish I did not sell and will never be able to get back is a Les Voorhies Stellite 6K flipper. Fantastic knife! I loved that knife, great EDC!

Came very close to selling my Hoback A10. To this day I am so happy I kept it, fantastic EDC. In fact, I am using it today. Hoping to go fishing with it and cut up some fish!

The only one that really comes to mind is my Spyderco Lum Tanto. For some reason I let it go but would re buy one in a heartbeat if Spyderco offered them again.

I don't sell my knives but I do tend to accidently destroy them. I killed my beloved pm2 by over grinding. Sigh.... I am not much of a sharpener.

An old Chris Reeve Project 1. It was brand new in the box. I let it go for peanuts......

A BG-42 Regular large Sebenza that I let go too cheap when I came to learn that CRK would no longer support them with replacement blades. Ask me how many blades I've needed replaced in all of my years using knives, including budget beaters!

There's a few I wish I still had, but the #1 would have to be the Umnumzaan. One of the coolest blade shapes out there IMO, and it was smooth as silk.

This!

I do however have a few that I've gotten rid of and then kicked myself afterwards. Most of them I have purchased again. I replaced a stolen Buck 112 Ranger years ago and the second knife never has seen much use. It's just a reminder that some slimeball has my knife.

Then you have the ones that you get very attached to because of where they have been and what they remind you of. You part with those and then end up replacing them too. The replacement just isn't the same though.

I had a Pacific Coast Cutlery Woods/Irie I regret sellin' I sold it for money and I should a sold some other things instead.
