Reinhardt Teaser

I really want to see the sheath...
Not that it makes much of a difference, gonna buy a 21 regardless. Just curious.

thanks

how much longer
And heavier?

Yes, the 21 is heavier. The 21 is a lot more of a true khukri style blade. So, the differences are a lot more than just length, and weight. The blade height (or width) is much bigger throughout most of the blade's length. Also, from what I remember having only handled it once w/out any real use--but was comparing with the 4 side-by-side, the downward angle is a few degrees less than the 4. Which, is one of the improvements. Also, with the longer, and heavier blade, the 21 has much more of a forward balance giving the knife a feeling, while holding it, that is hard to describe. You just know that you could literally chop through anything. On the flip side of that forward balance, the narrow blade width at the hilt (the "working" portion of the blade) is the mechanical leverage point. While holding the knife it feels like a "pivot" point while doing a ghost snap cut. This characteristic of the design is what lends this knife an incredible amount of nimbleness for its larger size. The "working" portion of this blade is also why it can REALLY handle fine work as well--it may also be the main reason the 21 dethrones the 9, and reins as our new king of the relm (I have that theory, and plan on doing a full review, with that as my angle, if it proves to be true, and I seriously believe it will. So, nobody steal it for their review please :) ). The last difference is the grind geometry. The 21, according to Ethan, has a grind angle much like the 9 (another reason I believe we have a new king on our hands). The 4 has a grind all its own, which is almost as functionally perfect as the 9's.

The similarities are blade thickness at .188", khukri style design, handle, steel, and, I'm starting to think, the sheaths will be almost identical, but counting for size differences. So, I know they might seem very similar, but they are two very different knives. This is very evident when you have a 21 in your right hand, a 4 in your left hand, and you're ambidextrous. Comparing those knives side-by-side was a real treat. Especially with Ethan right there pointing things out, and listening to your feedback.

My Thoughts Exactly!

And man, wouldn't you believe......... UPS somehow has lost my Box From Ka-Bar??? What's up with that?

Ugh.......... This sucks..........

Are you serious? Man, That does suck! I hope you didn't just loose 7 very expensive and not-yet-released knives!:(

Its January 3 already, and I've been out of commission for 24 hours. Are these things out yet or what?

KaBar did a recall. won't be coming out for a bit while they redesign it. i think they are going for 440 and made in china.

j/k!

Ethan hates 440!

probably more like 4040 :D

I heard they were going to use 420 stainless for maximum edge retention:D.

Maybe in M4 - for 20 special ones ;)

Or ... maybe its time to get your hearing checked :D

Ethan,

What do you like about 440A over 440C?

A comes before C. Therefore it must be better.
Much like grade A maple syrup. MUST be better than grade B, right? right?

Well, I like the grade D. The darker the better. Plus all those phytonutrients and....wait, maple syrup doesn't come in 440!
What on earth are you on about, daizee?

Please tell me you guys are joking about stainless...
Yep, they're talking about maple syrup. Yep.
Happyplace happyplace nothing upsetting happening...

As long as we're dreaming, I'd take one in 3V... Maybe I should make one for myself while I wait to buy the pair of the real ones when they get released...
