I hear that in the northeast all you guys have to do is tap on any tree and maple syrup comes out. Where I live in Texas, when you tap on a tree all that comes out is bees and fire ants.

but do they come out covered in maple syrup? that would be something.
try tapping a Texas Chocolate Tree and see what you get!

release date? you can get magical maple syrup anytime! make sure to pre-heat and quench while facing the moon.

I found a Mennonite place who sells maple syrup by the gallon..... not too bad of a price too. Think we grabbed one for $50 last year...

They often have roadside stands on the route to some of our climbing areas. Good value for real maple syrup.

Are these out yet??

Not yet. Gonna be at least shot show before they start to trickle out, and maybe even longer. We won't know till Ka-Bar announces something officially.

Keep checking this thread cause as soon as they are out, this place is gonna be filled up with pictures of everyone and there new Kukri's!

For sure! because the grocery stores sell it for $12 or more per half liter...

I'd buy it all day long for $12 per half liter. I wanted to buy 12oz of 'real' maple syrup in a store here in Texas and my wheel barrow wasn't big enough to hold the cash I needed for it.

I cant even find real maple syrup...

I cant wait to be one of the people posting pictures of a bk21!!! I need to start wrapping up some reviews but its too flippin cold!

But hell nor highwater will keep me from reviewing the bk21!!!!

You know what I should do? I should buy a bk4 and a Ontario kukri before I get the bk21 so that I can compare...

Here you can't buy Log Cabin or Mrs. Butterworth's without a brown bag to hide it from the neighbors. That stuff is hideous once you've had the real thing. One of my girls favorite snacks from the farmer's market is maple sugar cotton candy.

Recently in public radio they uncovered that even real maple syrup doesn't just drip out of the tree anymore. They use suction to get the juice out.
Though I've no clue if that makes it taste different.

I'm sure it depends on the size of the operation. The local sugar shack uses traditional methods behind my house. No suction pumps on the trees.

All the maple syrup operations I've seen are natural drip models.

Yeah, my buddies used to live as Mennonites, and I saw how they used to do it.

That being said, I'm sure some tree sucking gizzmo speeds the process up :-)

Confirmation notice said my bk21 was delivered!

But all I found when I went home was a severed hand and a blood trail leading to tyre tracks, mmm :p

That stuff is hideous even if your only option is the questionably-organic stuff from Safeway. But every once in a while I get a small bottle imported from the NE from a local gourmet market, just because it's so much better. The bottles are so small I only need a home-depot-bucket full of cash! :)

Don't suck it out of the trees - just squeeze 'em real hard!
