REK Q fixed blade thread

I’m working on a big website update at the moment, but I’ll have a BIG post in here tonight with the color options, layer layup options, etc.

The really nice thing about Richlite (imo) is that it’s a phenolic paper composite, rather than an epoxy based paper composite, which means it will continue to age/patina as time goes on. It’s also EXTREMELY durable. Buck has been using the material on knives that will be abused (like kitchen, and hunting knives) with great success.

And to be clear... Brian isn't taking custom orders for scales, he's going to post pics up so you guys can give feedback and I can see if there is a general consensus about what people like and I'll pick a few options for this batch 👍
I thought that was clear...but no harm making sure everyone understands.

Alright... So Richlite. Being a phenolic, we are limited a bit with color selection. Since it will continue to patina as it ages, Richlite is very particular about which colors they manufacture. They do a lot of testing to ensure the colors age nicely. Richlite is a U.S. produced material (right down the road from me actually), and is the highest quality, modern paper "Micarta" on the market in my opinion. It's about as close as you can get to the "old stuff" as possible since the Clean Water Act went into effect.

Here are the color options:

There is also the option of going with custom made layered Richlite using any combination of those colors. The thickness of the layers can also be customized.

This is my custom, exclusive Black Diamond/Blue Canyon (Nightshade) and Black Diamond/Redstone (Bloodstone) thin layered Richlite.

And this is how the Nightshade looks on a knife.

And here is some custom thin layered Slate and Browns Point on some Buck Knives to show you how the layered stuff looks when machined.

And how about a little vintage, "oatmeal" canvas Micarta? ;)

I like the Black Diamond, Maple, and “Oatmeal”/vintage canvas Micarta myself from what I see right off the bat.

Nice material, I have Richlite on a couple knives.

How’s it gonna work Josh? Are you gonna take a vote? Take like top 3? Top 5? Top 1? Then each choose their own within those?

Are you gonna do a poll? Sorry, I know that’s a lot of questions to process lol. hopefully I don’t get the classic “Yes” 🤣

Nothing brings a smile to my face quicker than when Nathan answers a slew of questions with a singular “yes” or “no”. 🤣

I’ll post some photos of a bunch of knives featuring various colors of Richlite tomorrow. I’ll also post some pictures of some more knives that use different combinations of the layered stuff too.
