REK Q fixed blade thread

This video is courtesy of Contender Machine Contender Machine ... fresh off his CNC (well still 'on' it actually lol). Darren, are these the Luna richlite?

That looks fantastic!!! I had gathered some more photos to post of the various materials, but I realized just about every photo I had show it contoured, rather than machined. It has such a different look when it's machined, I didn't want people to get the wrong impression.

I can 't wait to see the other materials machined!

Richlite is a great material. It machines cleanly, doesn't chip, holds tolerance, doesn't fray or flake and it looks awesome!

Machining really is a very strong point when it comes to Richlite. I was actually turned onto it by Adam Savage of Mythbusters/SE designer fame. 😂

I've tried more than half a dozen modern made, domestic paper phenolics and Richlite has BY FAR performed the best. It also handles peening without cracking better than any paper phenolic I've used. It's only downside in my opinion is that it has a tendency to burn if you're not careful because the paper layers are so thin.

I really like it Better than I wanted to....
I agree how nice it is to work with.
I've been using it for a couple years now, and can't say enough good about it. It's almost the AEB-L of scale material....haha.
Super tough, easy to finish, and really cheap. Difficult to find a reason to not to use it.
Heck, I tried the black color, and it's hard to tell the difference compared to real ebony....sorta .

I want to try more unique colors, I hope the manufacturer comes out with more!

I've been working with them when it comes to other colors. The problem is that knifemaking is just a drop in the bucket for them at this point. Their real money comes from big construction projects where it's used as interior and exterior surfaces. Alternative uses like knives, cutting boards, skate ramps, etc have really been taking off though, so I'm hoping that helps. Right now the biggest hurdle is that they are very particular about how the material they put out ages/patinas. They put a LOT of time in R&D before they put out a new color.

I do have the option to do pattern layouts in absolutely whatever way I want with their twelve existing colors/materials though. Here's a recent custom prototype from my buddy Justin using Dragontail. You can really get some different effects out of the material depending on how you work it.

Id buy that looks pretty cool.

I wanna try your green that you sometimes have, before it's all gone.

So far My favourite colors are the black, cause it's like ebony.
The maple almost looks kinda bone-like.

I wanna try your grey too. If you still have some (I'll check out your site soon, I be been wanting to order)

But, greens, reds, and orange would be fun.
Camo too....I wish we had better woodland camo (blotchy options) for scale materials.....

*sorry for going off topic
