Renewed my CCW permit what and why do you carry?

I live in Illinois. :grumpy: Both my Senators are the two worst liberal pieces of trash/anti-2A in this country. (OK, they have too many co-workers like this too) I have doubts Illinois will ever allow CCW, but if she does... it will be Colt CCO +/- Colt Detective as back up.

Illinois sucks, to be sure. When I was growing up, I was happy and yes, even proud to be able to apply for my FOID card. It cost $5 and I had it within a week.

THEN I realized what that stupid card really meant. And that not all states suffer from that deceptive law.

I live in Indiana but if you want I would gladly give you guys Gary...lol. I have faily that lives down in Harrisburg Il., everytime I go for a visit I don't carry and I feel naked and very uncomfortable. But things may be changing for the Illini state. Thanks to Heller even Willamette has dropped it's draconian handgun ban. There is hope for your state yet. You all just need to get out to vote and get others to do so as well. The people in power are there because they were voted in....they can be voted out. I wish you all the best in you fight for your rights.

I carry because I like to be prepared:) I usuall carry every gun I own (just 2). XD9mm SOB/IWB and Colt Agent in a pocket. Most of the time the XD stays in the glove box and I just carry the Agent and a reload.

NOBODY wants Gary!;):D I have faily that lives down in Harrisburg Il., everytime I go for a visit I don't carry and I feel naked and very uncomfortable.Anywhere away from the influence of Chicago is actually pretty normal. The people in power are there because they were voted in....they can be voted out. That little twerp Mayor Daly is pretty persistent in getting re-elected. As for Osama Obama and Turbin Durbin... I sure as heck didn't vote for them... I wish you all the best in you fight for your rights.A huge uphill battle...

friggen word nazis...

S&W model 38
Because one person tried to kill my wife
Because two people tried to kill me at different times.
enough said.

Daley runs the state and he's never really voted in......

I moved to gun friendly Oklahoma and have never regretted it.

Well...it is Chicago after all....vote early, vote often...lol. Only city in the US where they have voting booths in the cemeteries!

Either a Kel-Tec P-11, or more lately, a PF9. I thinking of selling them both though so I can get a S&W 642. The ALWAYS gun is a Kel-Tec P32.

EDC NAA .32. Sometimes my Sig P220 .45 auto depending on enviornment. I carry because I want to ensure my family and I will not be victims, but victors. I do my best to avoid any and all circumstances which appear dangerous or confrontational. However, in this day and age nothing is predictable, least of all your fellow man, or woman, or "child". Not paranoid, just prepared.

As for expense, MO sets the rates statewide, a CCW course is $95-100, the "permit" is $100, minimum 50 rounds of ammo, one days missed work if you were called in for overtime at the last minute, not to mention getting four hours sleep. Night shift is not so good.

And, of course, waiting on three lists for an LCP - priceless.

For anyone in Pennsylvania here are the states that have reciprocity, (better than 1/2 the USA);

This info came from this site http://www.pafoa.org/law/carrying-firearms/concealed-carry

Alaska

Arizona

Arkansas

Colorado

Florida

Georgia

Idaho

Indiana

Kentucky

Louisiana

Michigan

Mississippi

Missouri

Montana

New Hampshire

North Carolina

North Dakota

Oklahoma

South Dakota

Tennessee

Texas

Utah

Vermont

Virginia

West Virginia

Wyoming

Mississippi claims reciprocity, however Pennsylvania does not yet make mention of it.

WWW.NRA-ILA.com has a 50 state reciprocity guide. Things have been getting better. When I got my carry permit, it was recognized by 8 states. Now it's 33 states. I never go to states where my carry permit is not recognized. I hope that one day the "full faith & credit" clause will apply to CCW permits as well as drivers licenses.

Indiana is very simple and does follow full faith and credit, it will honor any issued permit from any state or country, period. Indiana CCW laws are the model I would love top see a national law based on. The National Carry for police was a step in the right direction, just needs expanded on now.

For out and about I carry a Taurus Millennium Pro PT145 in 45 acp loaded with Speer LE Gold Dot 185 GR. GDHP. I like the close range knock down power of the 45. For around the house I keep a S&W 686 loaded with CCI 38 spl. shot shells. Shot shells so I won't kill anyone in the next room. When I go camping or hiking I carry the 686 with what ever hot reloads I have available. Sufficient for Coyotes, feral dogs, Black Bear, and scum.

That's why you get a non-resident Florida license:)

A free hunter's safety course satisfies the training requirement. The license is valid two years longer, (EDIT- Florida CCWs now valid for seven years! Woot!) and is recognized in more states (the last time I checked, anyways. Things might have changed.) The age requirement is 21, instead of Missouri's 23. No live-fire needed. The license won't show up if the cops run your plates.

Total cost, $117 + postage, and some running around. About the biggest hurdle is getting finger printed (has to be done by a law enforcement agency. Local highway patrol did mine, and they were very professional about it. No charge, either:))

Other than that, you need to fill out the standard "I'm not a psycho drug-addicted felon" form, send in a passport size photo (I hung up a white towel and put the camera on a tripod. Cropped it on the computer, and printed it out.) send in a copy of your proof of training, (as mentioned, state hunter's safety covers this. Lost of other things, too,) and get a notarized signature (my bank was able to do this.) Total turn around time in my case was a little more than a month.

Application forms are available at this link :) http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/license/forms.html

That, and the State Police Reciprocity, are the things that will help drive national reciprocity (and force the last few states to join in.)

Cali has been very antagonistic in the past about reciprocity, which is all part of the 14th Amendment, and pushed hard by liberals - especially on the marriage front. Funny thing about Constitutional arguments, it usually boils down to one side getting things their way, which allows an unintended circumstance to be just as legal.

If the "People" have the right to free expression, then the "People" are equally justified in having individual arms. If the "People" want full reciprocity about marriage and driver's licenses, then the "People" will have full reciprocity on CCW.

It's been suggested SCOTUS decisions of the future will follow the 1Amendment from the early 1900's. Aside from safety considerations, I see many decisions liberalizing the carry and use of firearms happening right now, and probably no end to continuing improvements. As more CCW licenses get issued, more people in responsible positions will have less and less to worry about. Except those who consider an armed populace dangerous to their personal agenda.
