RENO Exposition ’08 – Show us what you got; Please!

Below is a Bowie I made for Reno. The blade is mosaic Damascus with matching guard and butt cap. The spacers, domed pins, and finial are all sterling silver. In between two of the sterling silver spacers is a peice of mokume. The handle is fossil walrus ivory.

This is a liner lock folder that I just completed for Reno. This folder has mosaic damascus blade and bolsters, a mammoth ivory handle, and a blued back bar with 5 diamonds in it.

Thank you Coop for taking my poor home images and making them look great.

I forgot to mention that the Bowie will have a sheath made for it by Paul Long after the show. Having just finished the knife I will not have the sheath at the show. The collector that buys it is welcome to have input into the details of the sheath.

The is something I stumbled into a couple weeks ago, and it came together, so I'll be taking this to Reno. This may qualify as one of my few original ideas. This is a composite laminated integral. The entire blade body is 416 stainless with a core of W-2 welded into the blade portion only. This gives all the benefits of a regular laminated blade, but also provides a rust-resistant handle frame in a knife that is still very elemental in construction. I'm sure I'll be doing more of these...

These are two liner lock folders with 52100 blades, and nickel silver bolsters. The top folder has an amboina burl wood handle and the bottom is desert ironwood. I've also posted these images on my Blog on my web page.

Burt, you got my change up on the Personal to laminated? I gotta stay away from this dang website :) JB

Mr Burt Foster,

I think you are confused. I am not the Baboo you mention but I will trade all the goats I own for that knife. Or if not goats I have a Vespa motor scooter.

Bill

Oh, I don't know... I'm looking at my llama herd to see which one Josh might find attractive that I might trade for the Bowie. Y'all really need to go and see the sword that he is making...it's on his website in the blogand is worth the tour.

Can't believe I decided not to go. Those are incredible. It looks like a lot of people will be going home with something special. Top work from top makers. I am very impressed with what I have seen. Nice job to all.

Nick

Burt, you got to stop stumbling around the shop like that. Someone could get hurt.....:D See ya' after Reno. Bill

Great looking stuff, Josh. By the way......I never got to ask you how the rest of your trip to Paris went? I had to leave out early Saturday because I had a plane to catch at 7 am on Sunday and a bit of shopping to do before I left.

Alright, last one. I finished this last week, but just got the sheath done a couple days ago.

This is my first "wrapped" damascus blade. Blade has two opposing bars of twisted "W" running down the middle, wrapped with a bar of random pattern. The blade was totally forged to shape, so as the bevels were pulled down, the width of the pattern in that area stretched, unlike the area above it.

The guard, ferrule and butt cap are twisted "W" with nickel silver spacers. Both the ferrule and butt cap are sculpted to match the stag, and the exceptional piece of stag has remained totally untouched. The knife is also dry fit, so there's no glue holding it together. The sheath is the same style I did for the BFB Charity Bowie.

I'll see all you guys in Reno on Friday. Travel safe!

Last, his "Turkey and Leaves" folder. The damasus is wild turkey and oak leaves mosaic, with fire opal inlays. The filework is not too bad either. ;)

I'd have to give Ron three thumbs up on these.:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks for looking,
