Resolved - never came through with $300 knife

I really hate to post a negative thread but I feel compelled to bring my situation to light.

I purchased a "limited edition" Snody custom Damascus "Economist" friction folder in December 2011. He never delivered. I had numerous email interactions directly with Mike in which he never denied owing me the knife. He was always very cordial, but always asked for more time and promised "next week" numerous times with the pitch of how the value of the knife is way more than what I purchased it for. Because of his professional attitude, correspondence, and lack of negative feedback from customers online, I was willing to wait it out. Then at one point he referred me to ultrareef to handle the situation, which then after a while referred me back to Mike for a solution because apparently Mike wasn't going to make the knife, or any knife for me, which I would have taken anything which had value so I wasn't screwed out of my money.

But here we are nearly 5 years later, I've completely given up on wanting or expecting Mike Snody to come through like he promised. And he hasn't responded to my recent emails. It's impossible for me to file a claim with PayPal since so much time has passed.

I feel ripped off, I'm hoping it can still be resolved because I don't have enough money to want to just throw away $300. But at the same time I hope I can prevent it from happening to someone else. Or if someone else has had a similar experience this opens the door to share it.

OP did you save any of the emails? May want to post some of those. I have not heard of Mike not delivering myself, but that is just my corner of the world. A little more proof is in order here. Also, you may want to make him aware of this thread. No way I would have waited 5 years if the above was the case.

Wow that sucks man hope to hear from the maker on this one. Thanks for the heads up on the situation also it's post like this that may save one person from getting ripped off.

Not trying to rub salt in the wound, but it is just another example of negative results after paying up front. Never pay up front. I learned my lesson the hard way also.
With that said-I am sorry to hear that you didn't get your knife or money back and you did show extreme patience in trying to resolve the problem.
I don't know if Mike Snody is on this forum, but if he is hopefully he will respond.

We have had members pay for "completed" knives and get stiffed. They too are told "never pay up front."

What seems to work is to pay with a credit card and challenge the charge if the item is not promptly delivered - within the time limit of the credit card company for such challenges.

Snody is a naco thug. I had a similar experience with him. he said the knife is ready to ship but 3 months went by and he's still saying the knife is packaged and ready to ship.

namely:
I seen this Snoody thread and thought I would ask,, has anyone used a Snody mastermind jig and if so how did it work. I ordered a jig from Mike back in Sept 27th 2015 and after 6 mails and 3 months later with no answer to the emails he said he was sending my jig this week, then he sent a email saying I was reimbursed although no money in my account yet. Is he reputable? this was the worst buying experience I have ever had. He wont answer emails and had my money tied up for a long time, heck I could have bought just as good or better jig from Don Dentz. Which I bought the next day and is already in the mail to me. Has anyone here had problems with Mike Snody. I was going to buy some knifes from him but sense I dont have my money for the jig still and am writing this off as a total loss and a heck of a learning experience. Maybe he used my money for some gold teeth he needed to buy or some 22's for his car at my loss. Opps almost forgot, he did leave a nasty dirty voice message on my phone after sending 5 emails cussing me out saying he only made $11.00 dollars on the jig. Every email I sent this guy was nice and he exploded on me,, so buyers beware of Mike Snody. Maybe this wanna be Wigger is going threw hard times or had a bad day,, the problem is the was he treats his customer and talks to his customers maybe Mike just wast held by his mama as a child or is mad for being born. I can back up every word I say 300% buyers be ware of Snody unless you have money to throw away.

Wait a second...you are not trying to imply that this guy is merely "about the dollars" and nothing else?!?

I do not think so, they have a similar section of their forums to this one. Theirs is called who _ucks and who doesn't I think.

Does the OP need to get USN admin approval first? (Assuming he's a member there)

The best way for the OP to handle this is that first he must be a member of the USN.

Then he should send a PM to chumli who is the admin responsible for disputes - then she will direct him exactly how to proceed.

Yep, that's it. I'm just asking, because this forum has a policy against cross-posting. It may need to be blessed by an admin over there.

OP, are you a member of USN?

Its not a blessing - just protocol.

Like Blade forums the USN has little tolerance for knife makers ripping off collectors.

Had a similar problem getting a Kiridashi a few years back. Months went by after paying for it. It was supposedly ready to ship when I ordered it. Finally got him to settle up and send me the merchandise, but sold it right away and buy from other makers now.

oh, the story I could tell!
