Resolved - never came through with $300 knife

Thanks to everyone's help, Chumli notified Ultrareef through USN of the issue, I sent him the email dialog between myself and Snody and he promptly refunded my money because Snody is unreachable right now.

Thank you all for responding to this thread and also for the guidance on how to handle it further. I finally was able to put this issue to bed. I got results that I didn't expect, extremely fast.

Glad it all worked out in the end

Awesome!

My own experience with Chumli was that she couldn't have been any nicer and more helpful the one time I talked to her.

Sad that it had to come to this just to get Mike to do the right thing after failing to do so for 5 YEARS..

I agree. What's more this one leaves me a bit uneasy.

I don't know anyone involved personally but, rightly or wrongly, this leaves me with the impression that Mr Snody decided that his work was more valuable given his little bit of name recognition so reneged on his side after payment was made and was hoping that the OP wouldn't pursue it. This is of course speculation, but potential customers will speculate. I could be way off there (and would like to be), but in the absence of further info or another point of view that's how it reads.

I really hope Mr Snody explains his side here. Without that explanation I think one would have to wonder about his business ethics.

Not that it erases 5 years of frustration, but along with the refund the OP was given a full apology including the admission that it was completely their fault and it should never have happened or taken this long to resolve. Again doesn't erase the frustration, but it was all they could do today. At least IMO

Maybe I'm reading wrong, but Mike didn't do the right thing, whoever Ultrareef is, did the right thing.

For some reason or other not explained he was not available to handle the matter and asked Ultrareef to handle it for him(according to Ultrareef).
To be clear my knowledge of this comes from reading the USN thread only-nothing else. Just trying to fill those in that don't have the opportunity to see the USN thread-it's short and this probably concludes all there was.

Sounds like Ultrareef did the right thing.. the second time Mike dumped it on him.. not sure what changed in between other than the OP had to bring it to the forum to get them to do ANYTHING besides make promises..

Well glad to see that the OP was quickly taken care of (at this time of course) when it was brought to the Mod at USN. Thanks to Neil for giving the OP the right contacts over there. All fixed in a day - that is pretty good.
And yes, I know it should not have taken this to finally fix it. Any way ..........happy ending!

I do not fully know the whole relationship, but it seems that ultrareef is a dealer of some sort that works closely with snody. In some respects it appears they often work together or have some sort of business relationship.

I met snody several times awhile back and he made some nice knives and seemed genuine and normal. But, that was before all the homie, bro, much respect crap (which I never liked). Guess it is/was a marketing ploy and/or his head got bigger.
His stuff today seems like it's almost semi production..............I really have no interest them at all. His old stuff is where it is at for me.

Wow. 5 years?!?!

You're way more patient than I am.

As always, never pay up front for a knife!

Snody's on the shite list. Ultrareef is good to go. Just another buyers opinion. So many incredible and talented makers on here whom don't expect or require advance payment, there's no reason to fall for that particular and inexcusable scam.

I was interested in a couple of his knives years ago, but he never did return any of my emails. I thought some of his videos were kind of informative and entertaining to watch, but he seemed to have disappeared from his forum on here a couple of years ago. I thought the "much respect from Texas" and the mouth full gold teeth to be strange.

Trust, once lost, takes much more energy and time to rebuild than it ever would have taken simply to maintain it in the first place. I too once had an interest in Snody knives, but given the apparent current state of things with him, I think I will focus on other custom makers, most of whom seem to be no headache at all.

Been reading the thread since it popped up with disappointment. I really, REALLY, like Mike and enjoyed his posts when he was active.

This episode smacks of burnout and there is no support from me for the negative interaction. However, Earl (ultrareef) has always been a great wingman, and continues by resolving this ASAP. I'm not surprised. As usual, a GB&U thread can really wake up a sleeping dog. Props to Earl. Props to Mike if he was included.

For all the good Mike has done for his following and his part in pushing the envelope of tactical knives, I want him to retire in honor, not in disgrace.

There are far, FAR worse makers out there. Maybe I'm wearing rose glasses, but it's hard to see a 'legend' fall from grace. Here it went.

I'm wishing Mike good vibes, and hope he regains his footing.

OP: SO glad you got this resolved. You did what you needed to do.

Coop

Thanks Sharp and others for your kind words. And yes you are correct, Mike is behind the refund, I just facilitated it. I've already resolved this and apologized on the other forum, but again, this is unfortunate for Ben and am sorry it took five years to resolve. That's it guys, nothing else to see here.

Your friendship and loyalty are admirable. But you are wrong. Lots to see - and learn - here: "It took five years to resolve."

I think I have all the posters beat on this. I ordered a Menace Boss LTD in July 2011 and still never received it. I used to email Mike for a few years. I consider his emails untill 2013 when I realised it wasn't coming entertainment for my money.

Some of his best quotes:

- "I will get it taken care of!"
- "Give me ONE more day. I promise you, that when you get this package the contents will make up for your wait."
- "I will email you tomorrow with a tracking number"
- "Thanks friend, No your order is SECURE and your knife should ship this week"
- " I really appreciate your buiness"

Anyways....yes....never pay for a knife up front.

Might I suggest starting a thread of your own, providing details so that people here may help you. Maybe your refund will happen too.

The five year record for Snody nondelivery after payment has been SMASHED: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/mike-snody-never-came-through-with-300-knife.1433910/
