I'm not certain I understand your issue.

You asked the clerk if the store stocked an item.
He said it did not.
Sounds simple enough to me.

If he knows he doesn't stock the item, why would he want to look at your broken one?

When I worked in a retail store, I knew my stock backwards and forwards. If somebody came in and expected me to look at a broken item that my store did not sell and that I had just told him we did not sell, I might have had much the same reaction.

Perception of being treated poorly is just that, a bad experience. I do not like being treated rudely or abruptly either. I spent many years in retail, and that clerk could have been more polite. I would not let this stop me shopping there. Next time you see the owner, let him know you do not want to be helped by employee x. Employee x is rude and does not know how to be polite to customers. The owner should take notice of that. It would be great if you could do it right in front of employee x as well.

that is good advice:thumbup:

Not to heap on but, from personal experience the employees there seem to be in the worst kind of titanium-high end watches click, so if you go make sure its on a day when Dan is there.

As to Knarf's knowing stock backwards and forwards, it doesn't matter how knowledgeable a person is if the message is convied arrogantly it's an affront the customers intelligence.

Sorry to hear about your experience at Plaza. Seems a little over the top to criticize customer service, though, when you just didn't like the way someone responded to you. Dan Delavan is a really nice guy and I'm sure he'll get to see this thread. I hope nobody chooses not to shop there because of this post.

I've always dealt directly with Dan Delavan for my transactions and he has been nothing less than cordial and accommodating both via email and telephone.

And having met him at the Blade Show a couple of times and gotten to spend a little time with him and his lovely wife, my initial impressions were only strengthened.

Give Dan a call and no doubt he'll address your concerns. He is passionate about his business.

(I'll shoot him an email to let him know about this thread.)

I have dealt with Dan on numerous occasions and imo he is one of the best in the industry.

I just find it surprising that you didn't talk to Dan of your experience and let him know how you feel. I'm sure he would appreciate it.

take care

i totally agree that Dan is the man. like i said earlier i had gone there before and he was really nice. he even let me handle a Ken Onion ripple. but as to a resolution another forumite is making me a custom kydex sheath with G clip. so it doesn't really matter. if you want to contact him that is your prerogative. but it doesn't matter to me anymore. i hope this doesn't drive away business either. i am just sharing my experience. if i was gonna get a chris reeve or strider than i would probably go there. but if it was something small i will go someplace else.

If it doesn't matter to you anymore and you didn't think the issue worthy of discussion then it didn't really make much sense to post it here and possibly adversely effect a well respected business because of a moment's indiscretion (on your part or the part of the clerk).

Posting "feedback" entails taking responsibility and not just blowing off steam and walking away regardless of where the chips fall. This thread remains behind after you've decided it "no longer matters".

I've already written Dan and provided a link so I can't recall my email.

I agree!!

well i wrote this at 3:16PM yesterday. i resolved the matter personally last night. i dont see how that changes the customer service. if i had a simple explanation than i would have at least a little better. would i go there again, yeah. i still like the store but it is a matter of asking a question and getting a "no" not a "no, they weren't profitable in the past" i also have to admit i was a little miffed. it would be like walking into an auto parts store that has all the high end stuff. you go to a salesperson and say " do you carry something specific. i tried to change my original post. would i say their cumstomer service is bad? NO. i have been there 3 times. the first time i dealt with Dan. very nice, helped me with what i needed.the second time there was somebody else. once again very helpful very nice. 3rd time i ask a question and get an unexplained answer. does this break my trust? no. but i wanted to share my experience. this is the good the bad and the ugly. is this good? no. is it bad? no. i would say it was a little ugly. is their customer service that bad. no. but it was a little awkward to say the least. i dont mean to be mean. i just wanted to share my experience. i dont mean to effect their business. i would recommend them to somebody in the market for high end stuff, chris reeve strider customs etc, but or small stuff, regular production etc i would recommend an online store or something.

Well...then in the future perhaps you will take your time before posting so you can say what you mean (with a clear and level head) and not have to edit three of your original posts so that folks will know what you've actually said and actually mean to say.

Better to just clear it up in the end than go back hours later and change those earlier posts. 'Nuff said.

Edited To Add:

Apparently not "'Nuff Said" as the OP has once again gone back and edited and deleted posts. Sometimes it's best for newbies to follow the age old wisdom of "read more and post less".

I've never been to their b&m store so I might be a little off, but I really wouldn't expect to find a tek-lok at a purveyor of high end knives. Would I ask? Sure, but I wouldn't start off with any expectations or even with my hopes up.

The clerk was probably as confused by your question as you were by his response.

ETA and FYI: Gundude, it's very poor form to make a complaint bordering on whining and then to delete all of your posts in regards to said complaint when someone contacts the owner of the store you are having problems with. Imo, you should have kept this entirely to yourself if you lacked the resolve to see things through once this thread, in a public forum, took on legs of it's own. To do otherwise only reeks of things I probably shouldn't say.
