Rick Hinderer XM-18..Looking for a Review

I have enjoyed reading this forum and it has been great. Here is my 2 cents worth if that really means anything. First of all, to compare my XM 18 to a Strider is ludicris. Strider makes a great knife but in my opinion they are folding prybars and have a lot of rough spots. I have owned an AR and SNG. This XM 18 has no rough spots when I grip it and the handle is comfortable to carry. I am not here to start a Strider bash session but Ricks knives are simply better. They are customs so we should expect more and he does not disappoint. I just like the handles better and the finger choil on the blade is comfortable as the one on the AR and SNG was too big for me. Ricks knives open up with precision smoothness. The workmanship is impeccable and you won't be disappointed either!!

:D

Rick makes awesome knives period. The XM-18 is a tough knife. I have a 3 inch version, and it IS the perfect knife for EDC. You can see mine in my avatar. Here is a pix of mine from Blue Line Gear:

Yeah, get the XM-18. My full size is my weekend EDC and as soon as my 3 inch one arrives that will become my weekday EDC. Steven

I revived this thread if you guys won't mind, coz i'd like to know if Rick has resumed accepting orders for the xm-18. Its hard to find one nowadays, especially if you have preferences for specific blade styles and finish. Plus if one pops up in the secondary market it gets snagged right away.

No, he isn't taking orders. They do apprear on dealers websites. You just need to watch his dealers. I got my blue one from Blue Line Gear. And the black one I have, came from The Knife Cellar. Here are more pix to tempt you.

Thanks for the info, as well as the tempting pics. This is bad, as it has become an obsession.

TKC,
Is that rust in the slot of your smaller XM's pivot or just the picture? ;):):D

I've been looking hard and have sent notes to all Rick's Dealers as
well as Rick. Only been a couple of days (and on weekend) since I
emailed Rick and wait to hear back when he has time.

Cornered a XM-18 at premium on the secondary market and lining
that up. Hoping it makes it home to me soon! Would much prefer
to order direct from Rick for the soul of the blade and interaction
with the Maker. I'm glad he has too many orders in one way but
not so glad to finally have scraped up the funds when these are
so hard to find!!!

3 of the dealers wrote me back already. None had the XM-18.
One had received only one in the last year, another is first come
first serve basis only with no waiting list. I'm too busy to watch
internet sites 24 hrs a day! The 3rd put me on a list which is
nice. So far the leads leave unsure what the outcome will be in
reality, sorta like a "wish sandwich"! Ha!!! Hence paying hefty
premium for a secondary market blade NIB.

What are the sizes of the 2 above (blue and black blade)?

Andrew
