Rick Hinderer XM-18..Looking for a Review

rsconey2, I am terribly sorry, and I am finally able to get to some emails. But to explain the last 2 weeks here at my shop. 2 weeks ago I was at Blade, got back from Blade, took a day off from all the work I did before Blade, then was without power most of last week and couldnt even get on my computer. After I got power back I then spent 4 days getting blown down trees cut, and general cleanup from the storms we had. Which brings us to now, which I'm finally (and hopefully no more storms) able to devote time to getting on the internet. So thanks for your patiance and please understand I am not ignoring anybody its just that I ahve had some extrordinary circumstance that prevented me from getting back to you right away. Thanks again everyone!

Rick

Wow! It seems like Rick is getting the third degree for not being able to repond to a few emails and what not. Its obvious Rick has had some issues in the past week with the storms and looks like he's got a lot going with orders right now.(Which is good) I called Rick the other day and he was actually nice enough to take the time out from cutting up blown down trees on his property to answer a few minor questions about my order. Thats good enough for me. Thanks Rick, still cant wait for my XM-18

ok ill give him some more time-just figure if he has been online here for a few days now,he should be able to respond to emails from 2 weeks ago by now-

Rosconey, Rick responded to you 2 hours prior to your Email in quotes. Check out the display modes. If you're in Hybrid mode you could have missed his reply. Linear mode shows the latest responses but leave you confused about the conversation. It takes a while to get use to an you'll still mess up - as I did on this thread.

Also Ricks response to you appears in Hybrid mode to be directed at Oilman but its obvious he is writing to you.

Somehow rereading this I'm not sure I cleared anything up

rosconey2, Again sorry, since blade and the power outages(not being able to get online to respond to emails) my email box is full of over 100 emails and or orders...I am trying to find yours to respond to you. could you please email me today so I can respond.

Well, there you have it...Rick is making an honest effort to make sure No one feels like they arent getting orders/questions answered...Now, will you please leave the man alone and let him get back to working on MY order...LOL:rolleyes: :D ;)

BTW...this may be a stupid question, but...When the blade is considered 3" blade does that mean that the 3"s begins at the sharpened edge, past the finger choil, or does it begin at the handle. I'm thinking the first one and if it is, I may very well opt for the 3" blade on my XM-18....Anyone?

With Rick's knives, at least with the Flames I have (and the XM-18 is a beefier Flame) and the XM-18 I have handled the blade length encompasses the entire blade (handle to tip), not just the sharpened edge. So a 3.5 inch XM-18 will have a 3 inch edge and a 3 inch XM-18 would have a 2.5 inch edge...give or take a few mm's

Thanks for clearing that up:thumbup:

Hey Guys!

I have had alot of questions about the color of the green G-10 that I am using...here is a picture of a couple of pieces of the g-10...the bottom one is the "natural" green g-10 which is kinda like a lime green..the top one is the darker OD green g-10..I hope this answers some of those questions...Thanks again!

I want pink!-

For those nights that I want to take a walk on the wild side!

tknife,

Well, I ordered my XM-18 in Tan G10. So.... I hope so!!! :)

However, I think Rick's Tan is the cream-ish/white-ish version, not the Boyote Brown used in Striders (which I am told is a custom, proprietary color.)

Isn't an XM-18 with Ti on both sides basically a Flame Gen II?

-j

i dont think so-maybe-

i just wanted a small xm18 with ti bolth sides-rick said ok and added some extra green to the price-

I ended up ordering one with some extra G10 slabs. ($65 per) It'll come with both shades of green, red, and blue. That way I can color coordinate.:o :p

rosconey2 make sure you post some pics of yours. It should look sweet.
