Rob Simonich was a great man.

Had the pleasure to design a chef knife with Rob and Walt Welch. I use it every day.

My prayers to his family, the loss is beyond words

It always pains me when I learn of any of us in hardship. This is the ultimate for his. May our Lord and savior handle this with all the love and power he has for all he came to save.

I simply can't think of anything profound, and I guess I'm just angry at the moment. Like many.., I also just received word about Rob's passing.

I was actually pretty sick at the last Las Vegas Custom Knife Show, spent about 25-35 minutes just shooting the **** with Rob.., laughing.., reminiscing, etc.

Rob could just make you feel better. A real heart, built for a real world. Just an incredble loss for us all.

I could not believe when I first heard of this sad news. My condolences to the Simonich family.

I met Rob for the first time at Blade Show 98 or 99'...I forget which one...what I do remember though was that a man that thin wore such a MASSIVE belt buckle and cowboy hat! It worked for him though. He impressed me with his kindness and genuine humility as a knifemaker. He never ran around like so many saying their stuff is the best...he just made great stuff and everyone around him knew it.

Over the years, we became fast friends and stayed in touch often. He enjoyed my NY accent and we shared a mutual love of the "Frontier Justice" of yester-year.

The last time I saw Rob, I had a little too much to drink and jumped on the hood of his truck, so excited that he pulled up to join all of us for some R&R after Shot Show. Smiling, he unholstered his tiger-striped .45 and drew down on me through the windshield! We laughed and laughed!

He knew how to have a good time and always added to everyone's fun...never took anything away.

I feel absolutely terrible that he's gone...I will miss him.

I have set down and tested knives with him and had so much fun. He really had a sharp mind and good personality. He will be missed by lots of folks.

The time I got to spend with him at Vegas Classic will be cherished forever. We had just exchanged a few emails the other night and I was telling him how much I was looking forward to seeing him and buying him a couple rounds.

His knives and designs , like the memories we all have of him , will live on forever.

GODSPEED brother Rob.

Its one hell of a loss. He was a real good man who had my utmost respect. I met him once and odered a knife from him for my wife. Always willing to take time and chew the fat.
He will be missed.

I met Rob at the past two Blade Shows and he always had smile and a handshake for anyone visiting his table. And that damn .45! He never left home without it. At this years Blade Show I recall Rob watching the kerambit show put on in the pit and unholstering his .45 and showing the participants the "correct way" to take out an attacker. Funny stuff. He truly was one of the great ones and it was privilege to have known him.

When Rob told me that his Indian name was "Big Bear" I wasn't surprised, even though he weighed about 160#.

It was his heart that the elders were able to see through the black t-shirt and big belt buckle.

Huka hey!

Oh man -

As some of you old timers may remember Rob took my "bait" when Doc Welch and I were trying to find out if Talonite would be any good in cutlery. I commissioned his first fixed Talonite blade, a one off special Wambli. And later his first Talonite folder, a Simonich-REKAT Carnivore, became mine. Later he and Will Fennell got together and presented me with a Camillus Talon.

We talked a great deal about Talonite, his move to leave the mine and go full-time as a maker, and distribute Talonite for Tom Walz. I was immensely happy for him both in finding and marrying Christine and for his evolving success as a full time maker.

When Rob and Christine got married I had a hard time figuring out what little presento to send. Those who know a bit about Rob's background might understand my finding and sending a Lakota marriage vase.

I still have pictures of both Rob and Doc Welch together at Rob's place.

I don't know what else to say at this point other than my prayers are with Christine and Rob's family.

I've yet to met Rob, but I enjoyed his designs. Always was itching to get his designs but never get around to have the cash.
The news is such as shock... My condolences to the Simonich family.

Damn, what a loss.

I never met the man, or own any of his work, but he will surely be missed.

My condolences.

Our time on this rock called Earth is way to short. Rest in peace, Rob.
