Rock Vocalists...

So many great singers over the years. After Cobain and Vedder everthing changed.Cornell is still belting and the most talented from Seattle singers. We now know the the talent behind Nirvana was Grohl. I have a very hard time finding a modern singer that I really like.I will name my favorites for the within the last ten years:

1 Chad Kroeger(Nickelback)

The intro here is pretty funny. He gives a knod to Poison and to Skid Row.

As a person who has an avid passion for classic Rock N Roll I have been listening to hundreds of bands, and studying musical vocals for many many years. Since then I have gotten a notion of who I truly believe are the best rock vocalists of all time. Here is my list up to date.

I am a huge snob when it comes to music and refuse to listen to any of the new crap that's polluting the radios these days. I am religiously a classic Rock/Metal guy who also listens to a little old school punk rock now and then. I refuse to listen to rap, or the abominations people call Metal/hardcore these days.

10) Jeff Buckley
9) Paul Rodgers - Bad Company/Queen
8) John Fogerty - Creedence Clearwater Revival
7) Kevin Cronin - REO Speedwagon
6) Lou Gramm - Foreigner
5) Michael Jackson
4) Klaus Meine - Scorpions
3) Robert Plant - Led Zeppelin
2) Steve Perry - Journey
1) Freddie Mercury - Queen

It's almost an even tie between Perry and Mercury in my opinion. However I chose Mercury as first because I find myself listening to Queen a little more often than Journey.

Honorable mentions...

Layne Staley - Alice in Chains
Ronnie James Dio - Black Sabbath/Dio
Bruce Dickinson - Iron Maiden
Rob Halford - Judas Priest
Brad Delp - Boston
Steven Tyler - Aerosmith
Eric Adams - Manowar

As for top female vocalists, my two favorites are Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac and Ann Wilson of Heart. Man those 2 women have such beautiful Rock N Roll voices.

I've been making myself and I am sure a few others a little sad with these JL videos. Just over two years and a week since we lost this guy. :( Man, could he sing. :)

This man is not a vocalist but he's pretty good at playing the drums. It is an interesting video. Hope you all appreciate it.

"Eddie Vedder is a personal favorite, but I have to say Cornell and Gillan top the list."

The thing that amazes me about C Cornell is that he has power throughout his entire range and makes it seem effortless. Sometimes I'll even replay certain parts of songs while driving and think to myself "who even thinks to attempt a note line that?" Or "how does someone realize they can do that?"

Perfect examples are:
Smokestack Lightning (3:40 is the good part)
Beyond The Wheel
Jesus Christ Pose
New Damage'
Birth Ritual (EPIC IF YOU'VE NEVER HEARD IT BEFORE)
Cold Bitch ("SEE ABOVE")
Just to name a few....

My name is Mike and I'm a Cornell-A-Holic.

If you skim read that last line it could be misconstrued. :D

With all that praise I'll definitely give him a listen later.

That scream he does at the beginning of "H.I.V Baby" always gets me.

I've always loved Mark Lanegan's (screaming trees) voice. Here are a few of his solo songs.
