Rockstead Knowledge Thread

I'm sure impressed with my Chou. I lent it to my neighbor for a torture test. He is into wood and rock carving. Within a couple days he had totally destroyed the edge. I would cringe watching him scrape the back of the blade against a rock to smooth it out. After he finished with it, I brought it home to clean up and sharpen. I couldn't believe how easy it was to sharpen, much like 1095. What impressed me the most, the DLC çoating had no scratches or marks. Absolutely amazing knife!

Hi! I thought I could share a picture of my newly accuired Chou here... [emoji4]

That's sick. I would love nothing more than to see pics of this rock smoothed out and pics of the Rocky throughout this entire process.

My main interest in knives is sharpening. I like to build rod guided sharpeners, similar to an edge pro, to suit a particular knife and cutting style. I use 3m lapping film as an abrasive starting with 40 micron and finishing with .3 micron. I ground the edge at 12 degrees per side. Cutting ability is greatly increased compared to the stock grind of 26 to 30 degrees inc. Durability will decrease but it's way more fun to use.

Nice. What about in the case of the Chou you let your buddy thrash? What was your method for getting that edge back?

This is how to curb a knife addiction and free up many hours of your life. It's called Rockstead therapy and the results are immediate.
