RODENT SOLUTION, my first non-ESEE knife.

Haha! No doubt. They live in dorms. Is this college, or the military?

I wasnt mad, i was stationed with them for a year in korea, it was AWESOME! Better DFAC/ mess halls, way better food with loads of options, we didnt even have to clean our own trays there was bus boys, no joke. Get done eating you get up and walk out. the dorms were awesome too. a lot better than anything i had state side on army bases!

CongRats, worldwood.

Thanks man.

We used to fly our helicopters from Hawaii to California in C-5s and build up at Edwards AFB. We stayed in their dorms and ate in their mess halls and it was GREAT! The first time I had finished chow in the mess hall I carried my tray around looking around for the garbage, then I had a civilian contractor take my tray for me. It gave me a chuckle. I can't complain either, the facilities were spotless.

Same here, i looked everywhere lmao.

I actually tried to join airforce first but was told i was color blind and could not get ANY of the jobs i was interested in, so i walked over to Army and signed up for ordnance, got attached to air defense and sent to an airforce base.... After a year and a half of training. One of the longer advanced individual training courses. I liked it though, i got to be on arsenals, visit NASA, and get stationed with civilian contractors in the states. i went on base for PT, and final formation, other than that i was on a missle range or at my duty location, an office building ran by civilians. Loved it! i would have retired Army if i didnt get injured.

Hey, look at that! I just noticed the op is from the southern San Joaquin. So am I! I miss it there.

I guess I shouldn't say you're "from" there, I guess we have no idea where you're from. Alot of people in the San Joaquin don't like it there, but I've been getting a little homesick lately.

Wow, this thread has been hijacked at least twice. Sorry about that.

amflud,

As far as I can tell, home is where you lay your head at night (and pay utilities, rent......). Lemoore is "home" now. My Fiance is from here so I may end up sticking around after I'm done and free (if I can get the job I want so firearms aren't an issue). Not a bad palce to live, reminds me of Kansas anyway!

Sounds like you and me are in the same boat. My wife is from here in Texas and she's happy here, and we all know what a happy wife means.

Oh man! Texas is on my short list of "use GI Bill money HERE!" places. We'll see what I can talk her into ;)

For those who read this thread in the future, I came from ESEE (3,4,5,6,Junglas) to SwampRat and can attest to the level of superiority that SR101 has over 1095. Rowens 1095 is probably the best of it's kind, but SR101 definitely has an edge. The Rodent Solution is a great first Busse(kin) blade, with great ergonomics, functionality, and style. I highly recommend it! I don't think that anything will replace my Junglas though, unless SwampRat re-releases the Rat Mastiff!

:thumbup:Rat Mastiff! Rat Mastiff!! Rat Mastiff!!!

Andy,

Oh man now I need to check this statement.....See my ESEE 6 is my go to for any sort of hiking/camping. Drop her in leather and head to the trail head. I guess this is apples to oranges though.

Get you a Ratmandu and you'll sell that 6! I GUARANTEE!

This is straight truth! I had a 6 and loved it, but the Ratmandu has it beat on all fronts. The handling is so much more refined, and the ergonomics are unbeatable! If I had to keep one knife it would undoubtedly be the RMD.

The Ratmandu will be my next buy (unless the SYKCO 411 becomes available). So this may be a biased place to ask this but here goes: How prone is this steel to "chipping" and "rolling" compared to 1095? I ask for 2 reasons. The first is that on the ESEE Forums there is a post about the Junglas and Ratmandu where the RMD has problems in a "hard-use" role. The second is that having used my 1095 blades on the trail and camp I haven't had any issues. I'm not sure of the rule here so I won't post a link to another forum but google "Ratmandu review" it is the link right under the first YouTube selection.

On another note, the Swamp Warden I picked up from Trident777 came in today! I currently have the ESKABAR in my EDC pack. Or should I say used to? The handle is just the right amount of longer and the feel is perfect with the 550 cord. Guess the BK-14 goes into storage lol. Now the RS needs to show up!

411 is available?

Man i have a lot of 1095, you can see my sig im a beckerhead they are 1095, i have been through a lot of esee and never cared for there ergos but they are 1095, i have ontarios in 1095... And in hard use the sr101 wins every time. Come on oger gut a dang car in half with sr101 lmao, its definitely better! But thats not saying i have a problem with 1095, obviously not if i have been through so many blades in that steel.

I like the bk14

BK14 on the neck and RMD on the side

But just wait till you see the setup i got coming!!! A couple Bussekins piggybacked together with a whole assortment of goodies :)

JWL, in the thread there the person battoned RMD into the brick, but with Junglas he's just freehand banged concrete. I have a Junglas and I'd say it is heat threated to lower RC than RMD. Mine got a wavy edge (and some of the steel above) from battoning through hardwood.
Harder steel will be somewhat more prone to chipping than softer. I had no issue with SR-101 and I've done my fair share of chopping and battonig with Swamp a Yard knives.

There's a user here, (can't remember at the moment who) who's got vid's on the youtube of him hammerin' apart doorknobs & deadbolts with his RS! bein' the same steel as the RMD, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

WW,

This Rattweiler you guys have been talking about: Is this going to be/has been comparable to the RMD or R5/6? I feel that the only way to get to the bottom of this is to blow some tax dollars on my own test and evaluation here.
