Well the title says it all. Nearly three more months have gone by since I started posting about my issue and I still have no knife, no refund and no more communication from Rodger for a knife that has been paid for in full since the fall of last year. I thought after he responded months ago to my post I would finally have something happen and actually get my knife. Well it has become painfully obvious what has happened to my money.

hope he gets right with ya.

imho another shining example of why ya should never prepay a knife.

You are unfortunately correct and it's a slap in the face to the majority of the excellent craftsman that sell here. A long time ago when this whole mess started Mr. Linger had a far different reputation. When the first troubles started with other victims, several of his friends would get offended when people would make what they considered unwarranted accusations. Although I'm sure they were well meaning at the time, there are no defenders left.

What I don't understand is his attitude that he will get the knife done when he gets the knife done, and that's all there is to it, and he won't give refunds no matter how overdue the knife is. If that is his attitude, he has no right to take any money up front. When he takes a deposit, or payment in full before delivery, he has entered into a contract with the buyer. If he tells the buyer that the knife will be delivered in a defined time period, he has an obligation to deliver within that time span. Roger doesn't seem to think that he has that obligation. He seems to think that he can take people's money and then take as long as he wants to deliver the knife, and that is BS.

He just made a post in a thread about taking deposits where he refers to how good he is to his customers. Takes a lot of balls to say something like that while he still has customers like cleaner145 hanging in the wind for so long.

Can I ask what's probably a dopey question, have you called the police where he lives and ask to speak to a detective and or filed a fraud report?

All the peer pressure won't amount to a hill of beans with some people, only handcuffs and arrest get's the point across.

Perhaps a link from that thread to this one would be in order, so that any potential customers have an opportunity to read another version of how he treats customers...

Couldn't help myself, it's already there. Funny how a guy who has multiple threads for not delivering and not giving refunds on deposits has the sack to say how much his customers love him. Ah well, takes all kinds.

Hope you get your stuff cleaner.

Mr. Oilman or who ever you are, only because you took a swing at me, I complete and deliver every knife I am commissioned to make. ...and I use my real name Mr Oilman, even on the postings.

rlinger's latest post in the "Taking Deposits" thread. Thought I'd copy it here so Cleaner145 and possibly the mods could see it.

This sucks Andy. I know I'd be pissed. I hope that you get something soon my Brother. The problem now is that even if you FINALLY get the knife, it might leave a bad feeling in you whenever you look at it or use it, because of all this $hit. I hope this works out for you. Take care, Aaron

Why is he still posting in areas here? He should be limited to only THIS thread, IMHO, until he comes clean.

"I complete and deliver every knife I am commissioned to make. . ." :jerkit:

I would definitely begin taking action to make this a legal matter.

"I complete and deliver every knife I am commissioned to make. . ."

I would read that same kind of stuff in posts made by Allan Blade. Sometimes it was five years after the knives were paid for that they were delivered. After awhile he just stopped delivering the knives and just took the people's money. He had the same kind of smug attitude that Roger Linger has.

A friend recommended his knives to me a while back, as a good buy for the money. Im very glad I came across this thread. In the old pre-internet days, seemed it was limited to one or two bad apples. Recently, this kinda behavior seems to be on the rise..

Much of the reason is that there are a heck of a lot more makers now.

99% of custom smiths would rather take a whipping than do anyone wrong, imho a legit smith wont ask for prepay anyway unless ya order something really unique, if this is lingers attitude i say there are plenty of smiths who do as good or better work who wont give ya any hassles, deal with them, lifes too short for hassles over something like this.

I wish I had more time lately but work is getting bad. Violent crime in S. Fl is getting off the charts. Well I have heard from Rodger this past week. His email stated that he appreciates my patience and that "Your blade is turning out very well but there is still lots to do yet before complete." If it wasn't for the all the money, this would actually be humorous..............
