Roger Linger - No Knife, No money, No contact.

Meanwhile I haven't heard a peep from the guy......12 month overdue....

That's par for the course. Remember though, he delivers every knife that has been ordered from him. It may take an extra couple of years, but someday you will get your knife. At least I hope so, because he refuses to give refunds, no matter how late he is.

unbelievable, certainly someone to avoid like the plague imho.

what a jerk..........

The reason I'm sure Rodger does not give refunds is because there's probably nothing to give. Our money has already been spent and he needs more orders just to keep the lights on and buy the materials for our knives. This very thing happened to a very talented gun smith down here by me. He's now doing construction in Orlando.

The reason that I have not personally prosecuted Rodger yet is that in doing so even though he would have the legal issue, I doubt I would ever see my money or a knife. I would lose as well. At some point my tolerance will wear out as will his time. Although I take no comfort in knowing that I am not alone in this deal, I at least hope that other potential victims are forewarned.

Only a few months ago I was recommending Roger to anyone that was looking for custom Tracker/WSK. There isn't a chance that I will ever do so again. The way he treats his customers, and his smug attitude made sure of that.

if he isnt gonna do business on the up and up and take care of folks then he needs to seek other avenues to make a living, there are plenty of good honest 'smiths around to deal with, he wont be missed by anyone.

Really sad to see this happening (again, with a different maker and the same circumstances). I've said it before (and many others have as well) no deposits, ever. If cleaner ever gets a knife, he should also get a partial refund for his wasted time and energy. That's what I would do/request anyway.

Have a good one (hopefully),

Nathan

He has asked for a refund (in the thread cleaner started that is now in the Hall of Shame) and was told by the maker that:
I do not give refunds. I have had a couple pull outs because of impatience with me. I have not though had anyone YET complain about what they received, save one that did ask me to correct a small spot - which I did do and to his specification.
which is all well and good, my congratulations to Mr. Linger for correcting a small spot, but what about the customers who want to pull out because of "impatience" with the maker and can't because he has their money?

By all accounts Roger Linger makes a good knife (just like Steve Corkum, Allan Blade, etc) if you recieve one, but is a very poor businessman, at the least. And, even though I have no horse in this race, it bugs the crap out of me to see him claiming to always favor his customers, like he said in the "taking deposits" thread, while he has at least two customers who have trusted him, paid in full in advance, have been left waiting for months if not longer, and had no communication with him until cleaner started his threads.

I appreciate you speaking up, NDallyn, and am sure others do as well. I'm of the opinion that a little pressure from his peers will go a long way towards making Roger Linger do the right thing.

It is good to see at least one maker take a position on this matter. Roger seems to be an accepted member of the knifemaker community on this forum, and I really don't understand why. It is makers like him that turn off a lot of potential customers. There should be more condemnation from other makers when they see one of their own treating customers in this fashion.

I'm still confused by Rodger's claim that he had a couple of customers "pull out". If he does not give refunds this is the same as him saying people sent me money for nothing and so I just kept it. I really appreciate NDallyn sentiments as a maker but at this point I would be very pleased with just receiving my knife or a full refund.

Myakka just posted in the Wilderness and Survival section that he had a Linger WSK on order for a year and he just got it. Andy, did you get your knife?

I just got my knife today in the mail, I have been waiting well over a year, it was worth the wait. now I need to get a sheath made. Roger has always done right with me.

I'm happy

Hey Hotrod, who made the WSK in your AVATAR? This is why I stumbled onto this Rlinger fiasco in the first place. Thanks!

Sorry, I can't help you get in touch with Roger. He seems to have dropped of the face of the earth. I wonder how many other people have paid him in full or part for knives they have not received? He always posted that if you paid him for a knife, you would get it. It might be very late, but you would get it. Well, I think he came to a point where he decided just to keep people's money and provide them with nothing.

Wow! What a crook! 95% of my knives are customs and all but 3 are from members here. Never ever had an issue. Its to bad the old saying "there's always a bad apple in the bunch" has to ring true.

I hope the law gets involved and things get straightened out.
