RoseCraft Knives

I got in on the seconds sale and ordered a lake something blue teardrop and got a briarpatch jack instead. I dont normally go for two blade slipjoints other than SAK or if I have a specific reason to carry stockman but I'm really liking the one they sent and I think I'll just keep quiet and keep it.

I recently ordered a RoseCraft Briarpatch Jack with smooth smoky gray bone covers and clip and lambsfoot blades on opposite ends. It was on sale as a factory second, but as many people have said about the RoseCraft seconds they have, I can't see what's wrong with it. Here's a photo of what was handwritten on the cardboard "sleeve" protecting the box in which the knife arrived:

"Chip & Dye" made me look for chips in the bone or splotchy dye, but I can't find anything to which I'd object. Here are photos of mark and pile sides of the closed knife:

The only thing I can imagine that could be criticized is that the dye on the mark side is much darker around the center pin and the pin just above the shield than it is anywhere else on the covers. But that doesn't bother me at all, and I'm stunned by how attractive the "grain" of the bone is; at first I thought I'd been mistakenly sent a knife with acrylic covers!

The appearance of the covers changes quite a bit, depending on the ambient light. Here are a couple of photos showing the contrasts between light and dark.

I'll make another post to show off the blades tomorrow. I'm impressed with the knife!

Anyone else hoping for a scaled down ( ~ 3.5") version of the Cockleburr Creek Trapper? Blue denim or Bora Bora blue bone scales would be icing on the mini trapper cake!

Elk River rosewood enroute  Is there any significance, beyond whimsy, to the skull shield? Not that whimsy is bad. I generally like whimsy, it just seems that it would have been more appropriate on a coffin jack :D

Coffin jack with the skull would be much more at home.

I think I read that the skull is a reference to Andy's Makers Mark. Cant remember the source.
Yes it is
I found it:

I also learned that all the designers at Rosecraft have their own mark. I didn't know that, but then I've never seen one in person. Kind of cool
