RoseCraft Knives

Anyone else noticed a change in action on "older" Rosecraft to new runs? My old otter Creek and Gunstock I sold had pretty solid snappy walk and talk. The recent additions have been a little more... Mushy maybe? Push further to full open, and not quite as springy at the half.

Seems consistent with the couple of new ones I got, wasn't sure if it's just a me thing.

Edit: I still have the otter Creek to direct compare so I know there is a difference. I'm just not sure if it's a common thing.

I just purchased an Elk River Easy Open Jack and no mush here. It's not a stiff pull, maybe 5-5.5, to a solid snapping half stop. Then a little stronger pull to a very solid snap open. I do not have an older RC to compare.

Pull weight is pretty consistent, maybe 5-6 ish. It's just a slight bit more slop in what I've got. Don't get me wrong it's still good, and it's consistent enough I've wondered if the springs are intentionally maybe a little softer or thinner. But it's a whole sample size of 3 knives that I've noticed it on so not exactly a huge test lol.

I'm not knocking RC for the record. Price to quality is still hard to beat.

Well...my sample size is 1 :)

I recently ordered a RoseCraft Briarpatch Jack with smooth smoky gray bone covers and clip and lambsfoot blades on opposite ends. It was on sale as a factory second, but as many people have said about the RoseCraft seconds they have, I can't see what's wrong with it. Here's a photo of what was handwritten on the cardboard "sleeve" protecting the box in which the knife arrived:

"Chip & Dye" made me look for chips in the bone or splotchy dye, but I can't find anything to which I'd object. Here are photos of mark and pile sides of the closed knife:

The only thing I can imagine that could be criticized is that the dye on the mark side is much darker around the center pin and the pin just above the shield than it is anywhere else on the covers. But that doesn't bother me at all, and I'm stunned by how attractive the "grain" of the bone is; at first I thought I'd been mistakenly sent a knife with acrylic covers!

The appearance of the covers changes quite a bit, depending on the ambient light. Here are a couple of photos showing the contrasts between light and dark.

I'll make another post to show off the blades tomorrow. I'm impressed with the knife!

That's the one I have, except black and not a second. If they ever make it as a single-ender, I'll have to buy another.

Maybe I'll carry it today in defiance of the unhealthy for us sensitive types air.

I have two RoseCraft folders.
Sandalwood Farm Hand and a Stag Senator.

... today I doubled the number of RoseCraft folders I have 🤣

I ordered a Denim Farm Hand and a Denim Elk River Easy Open Jack
I expect the same outstanding quality as the ones I already have.

Jer, your Rosecraft is the one that sent me looking at their semi-annual "seconds sale". I liked the looks of a lambsfoot on one end and a clip on the other end of a cigar-shaped knife (although if I could have my druthers, I'd prefer a spear or drop point to the clip). I should also admit that I was influenced by the lamb/clip (jack configuration) sowbelly from GEC; I think you also have one of those, don't you (or is that another of my nighttime hallucinations)?

It's real. Modoc Ed sent it to me and I call it High Spade.

Are they hard to get where you are ???
In a way, yes. There's no EU importer but there is one from non EU Britain but unless the help of friends is involved...this can attract unwholesome import tax 27% The other thing is the involvement of our truly dumbed down P.O. They're very costly, but OK a getting stuff out of the place quickly, it's once it arrives here that the Incredible Wait begins ....:poop:

It's good to see an ever expanding range of these knives, very well made & finished
