Rough Rider & Related Slipjoints

I have to agree with you. I love Case but the last ~10 I picked up were all recent production and all not that great. One of the last RR's I bought (Half Hawk) is of better build quality than any of the modern Case I have. It really enticed me to go check out more RRs (Black Cherry Bone Congress on the way).

Yes Case has many great patterns but the execution can be lacking.

Just got my first Russlock and the blade is rubbing the pile side.
I can live with that but my mini trapper lost its shield and the rivet pin popped on one of the bolsters and now has serious wobble.

That one will have to go back for warranty.

Picked up another Marbles Ram Horn knife. This time a MR364 Hawkbill. With this knife I only need one more to have a complete set.

How are everyone's Rough Rider and Imperial Schrade knives doing today. Although this picture was taken when these knives were new, I've been using them mostly in the house but sometimes outside for various yard and field use and they are holding up quite well at least as good as my Case, GEC, pre-2006 Schrade, and Camillus knives. The blades on all of them sharpen up nicely and perform well.

Generally, mine have held up as well as the competition. I have noticed a tendency for centre pin cracks on the yellow delrin range and some bone ones too. Mind you, I've got a GEC Beer Scout that has 3 big bone cracks and it's never been dropped and it's not the only GEC that has cracked pins, they do cost a massive lot more too....

My RR knives, the few that I have, are holding up well. But they don't get used that hard or carried that frequently.

Congrats on the new ram's horn, E edbeau !:cool::thumbsup:
I have both the sowbelly stockman and the canoe, and can't decide which I like better. Leaning toward the sowbelly at the moment.
