I agree with you JohnI'd like to see that Cotton Sampler frame with a more usable blade. It's very handsome.
RR baby copperhead is a very nice knife; that would be a great candidate for a carbon steel version!I've been hoping that they would re run some of their lines with carbon steel blades
small coke bottle and baby copper head in particular
Is that a G-10 canoe, Dave? Looks a lot like a G-10 Ti-coated carbon steel canoe Colt had!
Gary yes, it is a G-10 Ti-coated carbon steel canoe. Looks to be the same as your colt. I really like a Canoe knife its perfect for EDC or public places where folk are skittish.RR baby copperhead is a very nice knife; that would be a great candidate for a carbon steel version!

Beautiful Yellow Canoe there.
Thank you, when I first started collecting slipjoints quite some time ago I started with RoughRider. For a newbie to get a taste of the different patterns at a low cost,Beautiful Yellow Canoe there.![]()
Just arrived today, Friday, February 15, 2019!
RR533 Amber Bone Scout/Camp knife.
No gaps anywhere, no blade rub or wobble.
Main blade and punch have around a 5 to 5.5 pull. Can opener is around a 6 to 7 pull.
Screwdriver/Caplifter is at least a 9. I need pliers to open it. I suspect a good cleaning and oil will take care of it, since it feels a little gritty working the blade back and forth.
Overall, I'm very happy with it.
RR1207 "Collector's Edition" "In God We Trust" Straight Razor.
First off, I did not get this to shave with.
This will be my fur trade era "period correct"/"historically accurate" patch knife, for my new to me Hawken rifle, when I shoot round balls at the Buckskinner Rendezvouse.
The razor/patch knife is perfect; no flaws that I can see.![]()
Seems as thin as the barber's razor I had "many moons ago" that I used for a patch knife in the 1980's. (it was lost in a move)Is the razor thin enough to shave with? I can't find any information on the practicality of RR's razors.
Such a great little frame! I hope they use it in the future with other blade shapes.
Built my first tonight. Total beater, especially after seeing yours , which are beautiful. The kit is janky as all get out. Spent a fair amount of time at the drill press and bench grinder, both of which were recently given to me. Not gonna lie though, I’m proud of it.Three Rough Rider knife kits I've had for over a year that I have recently got motivated to build, a Buck type lock-back & a two & three blade kit built as single blade knives (trapper & sow belly I think?).
Kit numbers CS1, 2 & 3.
Scales are not the supplied laminated wood but Briar root burl, just because I have some & thought it'd look better.
Two of the knives have slightly larger brass pivot pins rather than the supplied pins due to me messing them up while trying to get a nice fit.
