Rough Rider & Related Slipjoints

You gotta give some respect to the frugal members of BF. ;)
Honestly after reading through this thread a bit, I may pick up one or two Rough Riders eventually to try them out. The only thing I couldn't get past is the Made in China stamp, but not a big deal. :)

I have several of them, I just found a little irony in the passaround idea.

Here is my Rough Rider congress with some decent popcorn.

This thread has added to my mania for collecting these knives!

Canoe
Barlow
Muskrat
Trapper
Scout
Whittler
Elephants Toenail
Grand Daddy Barlow

Hoping to add a Stockman and now a Congress!!

I have several RR knives. Only got one that fit wasn't up to par. It was an amber scout knife that you could see through the brass liners. Didn't hurt the function but poor fit. I have recently gotten the amber bone lockback trapper and stoneworx whittler which is very nice looking. I also have the Marbles scout knife with G-10 handles that is very nice and made in the RR factory. Also got some nice looking RR's in the Long Rifle, Bowie, and Rifleman series. Stockman in each and trappers and Folder Hunters in the long Rifle and Bowies series that look great.

finally got a pic uploaded.

the rough riders are the three in the middle. an appealingly gaudy (to me, lol) 'stoneworx' toothpick, an imitation tortoiseshell trapper in the middle and a 'painted desert' canoe at the bottom.
also in the pic is a yellow buck 301 on the far left and an opinel #8 hawkbill on the far right.

excepting the toothpick i havent carried or used any of the rough riders enough to say anything about them. the toothpick feels pretty good to cut with but is kind of long in my pocket. also the blade rubs against the liners just a little near the tip.

Lately, I've heard of a new pattern, the Half-Hawk. Sheepfoot major, pen minor. Could be very rewarding. Anybody got further info on it?

Regards, Will

my rough rider two blad trapper arrived today! fit and finish is pretty damn good for a cheap as chips knife! no blade play, sharp out the box and attractive! very tody springs in the back and the handle material is pretty well put on! pic's to follow!

Here's a couple more new ones that look interesting, "Dogleg Jacks":

And this Marble's "Equal End Cattle Knife" looks interesting, with the two long secondary blades.

Mercy. Someone took the term "dogleg" literally.

My second RR received as a gift. This is a really nice knife at any price point. The blade is centered and perfectly ground. There are no gaps anywhere. The lockup is tight as a fixed blade and engages with a very satisfying snick that makes you want to open and close it again. The covers are well matched and the saw cut jigging pattern is just awesome. I have not carried it yet except around the house but it came hair popping sharp out of the box and sits well in my pocket. I will check back in a week or two with updates.

Here's something a little different , these are imports, but they don't appear to be made in the same factory as RR
I bought a few of these in different patterns, all stag.
They all have satin finished blades and very nice fit and finish. I don't like the writing on the blade, but that'll wear off.
I think they were $16 ea.
