My favorite knock around EDC for a year now. Love the pattern and have four more RR canoes. I like the smooth bones best. As Woodrow mentioned, great worry stones.

The GEC variant doesn't seem to attract much comment, and, plenty still seem available from dealers. This is strange as it comes with a wide choice of handles.
That said, it's a pattern I've not really got on with, too much bolster for my taste seem to make it a relatively heavy knife. The CASE, Queen and GEC versions are all good knives, no question.

The GECs have a straight spine, and too much bolster,
doesn't appeal to me, prefer a more traditional curved back.

I like the canoe pattern quite a bit, but have gifted away my Case amber

I'm the one who received this incredible gift, and I've gotta say the knife is one of subtle brilliance. There's no one factor that makes it awesome; it's just a tasteful melding of a lot of what I like in knives: wide, flat frame, wide blade, (2 of 'em, that secondary is a monster!) carbon steel, flat grind, sweet amber bone, big, shiny bolsters, and the main is pinchable! Love it. Thanks again sir.

Pardon my hijacking of the thread.

Although I'm not a massive fan of traditionals, the Canoe and Butterbean are my favorites. I only have 10 or 15 trads (out of 175+), but my smooth natural bone canoe does find its way into my pocket with some regularity....maybe I'm turning or something :D

It is my favorite pattern. I gave mine to my dad though, going to have to pick up another sometime, I've been looking at the Canal Street Cannitler.

I have one of these in ebony, and yeah, it's definitely not in the normal canoe shape. In fact, it shares bolsters with the pivot bolster on the 65 Ben Hogans. Despite its odd shape, I enjoy it because its spear main is so well proportioned to my eyes. Plus, I appreciate the larger difference in size between the two blades than what is on some other canoe patterns.

I have one in my pocket today.
I bought an RR 3-4 years ago, just to see if I liked the pattern.
I loved the pattern. It seems I can get a better edge on a wide blade.
The RR was so well made, I never replaced it.
Although, most of the canoes in this thread look a lot nicer.
It might be time to go shopping.

Love those AG Russell/Buck Canoe's Duane  I see AG still has a black pearl version available.

I don't have as many Canoe's as other patterns, but they do make it into my pocket. The first one I bought was a Canal Street cannittler

Then Case, Baby Butterbean and a full size, both BSA versions:

I love the GEC:

Picked up a 3" Hen and Rooster, very nice stag

My newest is a Boker in burl and damascus

I love thin single spring knives, so I should have more :D

Deskil, that Queen is awesome. Might have to have one of those.

I too found that Queen canoe sticking out as the leader of the pack in that photo. Maybe it's the nicely contoured bolsters... maybe it's the beautiful bone on it... maybe it's my bias because Queen is my favorite of the remaining American traditional knife makers... maybe all the above :) It does look nice :)
Btw... this thread has turned out some beauties in the canoe pattern :)

The Queens do look very nice, I have yet to own any and their version of the Canoe is very nice looking.

Still haven't seen any Gunboat Canoes, Who's holding out on us? I know someones got one.

I had a Queen Canoe, but traded it with a fellow forumite for a Heritage series knife. Whilst the knife has excellent D2 steel and some very decent jigged bone handles, I didn't like the partially exposed tang on these knives. Its curved Copperhead bolster doesn't cover the tang edge and this I find annoying and in fact pointless on this type of knife. I suspect CASE do this better.
