It was never made by Ka-Bar. It is made by the folks who do ESEE blades, Rowen. Heck of a good knife, and definitely one worth getting!
Awesome! I learned something new today, actually two things. More importantly that one can still be had. I might have to join91bravo in scooping one up.
Let's do it! I'm about to place my order. Now the big question is, since it's manufactured by Rowen, I wonder if the Becker/Kabar micarta scales will fit it??? @DerekH do you know?
I ain't Derek, but I do know the Ka-Bar/Becker micarta will fit, but the TKC G10 scales will not without modifications.
What's up SD! That's good news that the factory micarta will fit. I went ahead and ordered the handles along with the bk12...I don't really care for the TKC g10 as they are slim and I like a more round robust grip! Thanks for the confirmation...
I believe you'll be GTG with that setup !! I'm with you on the TKC g10, they're nice, but too slim except on the BK2, that 1/4" blade width works out great with them then.
I take that back. I Googled imaged it, and see the micarta on several, haha.91, I don't believe the micarta grips fit on the 12. The screw holes are different, because of the weighted handle, iirc.

I updated what I said earlier. Tobiism is correct, it's the TKC scales that won't work.Well, I already ordered the handles along with the knife....Someone posted above that they would fit. I have also seen pics on the web of the bk12 with micarta handles, so I just assumed they would fit. I guess we'll just have to see when the knife/handles come in!
Here's a photo next to the ESEE 6, I found here: http://www.bladeforums.com/threads/rsk-mk-12-vs-esee-6.1390836/
