RSK MK2 BK12

Does anyone have one of these? I don't see much talk about this knife here. Was thinking of picking one up, grinding down the thumb ramp and putting micarta scales on it.

I might have one....

I'm really a fan. I ditched the weights and added some tommy the who scales. One of my all time favorite knives for sure.

CREAKY BONES! That is one sweet blade! I've already got mine planned out: get the knife on Thursday, grind down the thumb ramp in the machine shop on Friday, finish with a good sandblast, and assemble the handles. I'll probably do another pickle juice/mustard spray patina.

I'm now in wait mode and we all know how bad that sucks....

The 12 is a great knife, No Doubt. But I still prefer the 10 after Ive modded it to my preference. Which in the end looks a lot like a 12 LOL.

The 2x 12's that ive had were very thickly ground behind the edge.

Looks good Tobi! I'm not too worried about thick behind the edge. The bk12 lists 3/16" thick and besides, that's what DMT stones are for!

When I thought (incorrectly) that the 12 was a discontinued model, I had considered modding a 10 like you did. I just really like the spear-like point and high flat grind, which can be thinned if necessary, I suppose.

Yes you can see how much I raised the grind on the 10(to mimic the high grind on the 12) by looking at the logo

Yup, it's a winner. Wish they made a run like that.

Thanks guys!
Check out this thread about the spine and ramp removal.

The Warrior The Warrior I've reconsidered it and I'll come down to 1/2billion

I made a leather sheath for it but I'm not exactly satisfied with it and am kinda embarrassed to show it lol. Good thing it's raining so I can't get a pic.

Awesome! I'll start a thread for this one like I did my 5 and 20 and keep it updated with pics of course! Thanks for that write up, it will help. I'll be clamping it vertically and removing it with a Bridgeport endmill. I think I'll put a sharp 90 degree spine in place of the thumb ramp, so I can strike some of them there fancy sparky sticks!
