Anyone know of the lightest, yet 3ish inch bladed knife that is preferably a spydy, which would be good for wearing with running shorts?

The PM2 is pretty freakin light in my opinion. I've clipped it in my boxers/PJ/basketball shorts waistband many times. I think it would work as well as any others.

I'd look at the Spyderco Salt series - they are very light, with linerless FRN scales, and are very corrosion resistant, which could be helpful if you think you'll be sweating. I also like h1 generally, as it is easy to sharpen and holds a good enough edge. Only problem is that there is an endura-sized knife, and the dragonfly sized knife... neither are exactly the 3 inches you are looking for.

I think the best Spyderco knife for this application is the Calypso Jr. FRN. If you can find one on the Exchange or eBay I think you'll be happy and impressed. I use my gray Sprint for desert hiking and it's barely there in my pocket, yet comfortable and capable in hand.

I have a Salt 1 (non-serrated) and it is very light. Clip it to boxers and forget it is there. Not very stabby if you are thinking last ditch dog/cat defense.

I love Spydercos and I'm an admitted fanboy, so there are some good recommendations here. However, if you want to save a buck get the Kabar Dozier 4062 (or 4065 for a better stabber) with a coated blade and hardware. Ultra Light, resists rust, no steel liners, Unpinned and can be taken apart by removing only one screw (super easy and the only spydie salt that is unpinned is the dragonfly which is too small). Try it for under $20 and you can always upgrade.

4065

Chaparrals are very light and thin. No doubt comfortable for any attire. A little shy of 3" though. Natives are always a good option.

I use a Spyderco Dragonfly Salt for that purpose. The H-1 blade will not rust and weighs just 1.2 ounces. The blade is only 2.25" but it suffices for me. Perhaps Salt I is better for OP with a 3" blade of H-1 and weighing 2 ounces. One possible downside to the H-1 knives is that they're not FFG.

One of the Salt series for a folder. Or a Street Beat if you decide fixed blade, That's what I carry while running.

I use a Wally World Native 1 in S30V for this exact task. Super light and has never even given me a hint of rust.

While not a Spyderco The BM 530 with a coated blade is thin, light, has a nice grip to it and depending on needs and taste has either a plain of partially serrated blade.
I can clip it inside the waistband of my running shorts and never notice it while running. The black coated blade will inhibit corrosion.

The ZT 0770CF will work. I trail jog often and carry a ZT 0350 at about 4:00 on my waist band and it stays put with no problems. The only problem is if I go more than 5 miles or so it might chafe a little bit. I am going to give myself a Carbon Fiber 0350 soon and I think that will alleviate the problem!

D'oh. Hadn't finished my post yet....

As mentioned the Spyderco Salts are about the best choice. I run with a full serrated Tasman Salt or a palin edge Salt 1 cliped OWB just infront of the hip bone. You don't even know it's there. :)

Delica? No need for a "sooper-dooper high performance light saber with the latest whiz bang steel" for jogging.

The Delica is cheap, light, rust resistant. Should handle anything you need cut on a jogging trail unless you jog in bear country..... Even then, I don't think the bear would care what super steel your blade was made of. I doubt you would get to test the high wear resistance on him either!

The Salts would be a good choice as well, but I think they cost more. I'm not up on my Spydie prices here lately though!

One of the Spyderco Salt series would be my choice. Currently my EDC when I go out for a run/jog is a Emerson LaGriffe.
