Running Shorts knife

Delica? No need for a "sooper-dooper high performance light saber with the latest whiz bang steel" for jogging.

No need for any knife while jogging really. Would never have occurred to me to carry a knife jogging until I came to this forum.

Salts are definitely the way to go, and any assisted opener is probably not...I remember an account on here once from a guy who had his Kershaw Leek open in his pocket and didn't notice it at first. He became aware of it when he felt the point of the blade begin to slice into his scrotum...

Ah... "Slice" and "scrotum" are two words that do not belong in the same sentence with each other!
And shotgun, you never know when you may need a knife. If you don't have one, you may turn out to need one very badly. Let's say you were jogging by a beautiful, serene lake. Then you suddenly pass by a fisherman who's trapped upside down in a fishing net drowning. The Delica might come in handy.
You never, ever know what could happen outside that front door.

The BM530 is an OK knife. Light, thin, carries like it isn't there.

But I couldn't get over the cheap feel of mine. The flex of the scales under hand pressure really bothered me. Not a $100 dollar knife IMHO.I much prefer my Native 5 lightweight.

I passed the 530 on to my son.Still have (and carry) the Native.

I think the best Spyderco knife for this application is the Calypso Jr. FRN. If you can find one on the Exchange or eBay I think you'll be happy and impressed. I use my gray Sprint for desert hiking and it's barely there in my pocket, yet comfortable and capable in hand.

What he said... I have 2 in zdp 189 and they are my go to ultra light shorts knife. There was s a mint burgundy one for sale under folding knives on here. Russ

Yes, opting for a vasectomy is a serious medical decision that should only be made after consulting with one's physician!

Another vote for the Native 5 LW, it's small and very light, yet also a capable slicer and overall utility knife. I carry it when I need a light knife on me that I don't want to notice.

Depending on your hand size, you might consider carrying a closed Delica or a Dragonfly in hand assuming you run with closed hands. Solves the problem of access, particularly if you've got a paracord lanyard looped around your pinky. If your hands sweat a lot, a Salt 1 or H-1 Dragonfly.

Ive been using a Pacific Salt for years in this role, even clip my keys into the waistband with the pocket clip. Works great.

I posted this in another thread but the Delica 4 is my go to cycling knife. I clip it into my right back jersey pocket and can't tell it's there until I need it. No problems with rust in the years I've owned it.

I carried a ZT0301 every single day for over a year ;)

Now I prefer slightly less heavy knives

The 0200 he recommended meets that description - slightly less heavy. One would want to sand/grind down the scales some for IWB use, though.

DOn't know if anyone said Al mar Falcon - it's the lightest, most comfortable wearing while running I could find.

It gets very hot and humid here and being near the Atlantic, corrosion is always an issue for anything made of steel. I have carried my Spyderco Pacific Salt when outside exercising or doing physical work around the yard. My exercise takes the form of cycling and canoeing mainly since I'm too old and my knees are too worn for running. The Pacific Salt is very light. The bright yellow handle is easy to see if it is dropped. Of course, the fact that it cannot rust in these conditions is a major benefit of the H1 blade. I have had it in a pocket of my shorts when in the surf fishing and took it home and set it down on a table for a couple days and absolutely NO rust. I recommend this knife for a handy, light and sweat proof knife.

I run with my small 21.......

What? Don't look a me like that! :D

The Ti slabs aren't going to rust, and the blade just has to be wiped off afterwords if you carry it IWB like I do. I've yet to see any rust spots on this s35.

I also have a dragonfly salt, but mostly I just save that for the beach and pool.

That's why I got the 531. No flex, and it's tougher than it looks.

Not released yet but definitely an option. I like that it has H1 so it's immune to rust for when you're sweating while running. Also the polymer sheath is nice.

From spyderco' website:

Spyderco ARK (Always Ready Knife)

The heart of the ARK is its deeply curved clip-point blade ground from H-1[emoji768] steel—a nitrogen-based alloy that is completely immune to rust. The curved edge packs impressive cutting power into the compact blade and the clip-point profile ensures a strong, extremely sharp point. The ARK’s fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle is molded directly onto the tang and features Spyderco’s proven Bi-Directional Texturing[emoji769] pattern and an index-finger groove to guarantee a secure grip—even with wet hands.

To ensure universal carry, the ARK includes an injection-molded polymer neck sheath with a breakaway ball chain. Best of all, the ARK and its sheath together weigh only 2.0 ounces (57 grams), so you’ll hardly know it’s there—until you need it.

Here's a pic of the ARK in the hand. It was designed specifically to give a defensive option in situations where other tools were not available.
