RyanW Turner SanMai Chopper WIP

Haven't come up with a final name yet probably something girly like Patrice! :p

Question: What kind of epoxy/glue are you using to attach the G10 liners to the handle material? My T-88 epoxy doesn't seem to bond as well for gluing G10 liners to handle material.

I've been asking around, would like your input.

The knife looks awesome. It looks like that tree grew just to be able to be the handle on that knife.

Man that is a awesome blade! Beutiful work!

Thanks patrice, Matt and JG!

I use the same epoxy that I do for the rest of the scales. Acraglas from Brownell's, I have used Devcon when I needed a faster cure time. Prep is really important, sand area with heavy grit sand paper. wipe down with acetone, you should get a good bond.

Here are the final photos. Thanks to Mike Turner for the beautiful SanMai Billet, and Mark "Burl Source" for the beautiful wood. If you are interested in their stuff just click on their names it will take you to their profile where you can contact them...

My pleasure Rob.

Always looking for ways to improve how I do things please feel free to let me know if you think there is an easier or better way to do this.

That Sheath just tops the package. YOu really need to sent it to me for some testing I think!

Well done on a great WIP!

Matt

haha... How many days rent would it cover? Thanks Matt, maybe we can work out a trade:eek:?

Hey Matt, I may have asked you this? Is Bruce Barnet going to be at the Oregon Show this weekend?

Really nice Ryan! :) Excellent combination of materials!

FWIW- I use 2" and 3" wheels for the palm recess/swell... ;) :)

Hey Ryan. Nope Bruce isn't heading over. We have our main show(Australian knifemakers guild) in Melbourne at the start of May. Pretty sure he is heading to blade after that.

haha, Damn! You should try 10" :p ... Thanks Nick, look forward to meeting you!

Thanks Matt, Good luck with the AKG Show. Don't sell that Kitchen knife before you get a chance to show it off.

Ryan, that looks outstanding! Thanks for the WIP, lots of good stuff. I love how the dark wood ties everything together, the etching, hamon (if that is what it is still called with SanMai), and brute de forge!

Just awesome!

I think your work is outstanding. Very cool handle.
