S30V disadvantages?

I wouldnt be the first! It is sort of like the urge one gets to see a car wreck. I must admit that some of these "car crashes" have been informative, but I am losing my taste for them as they always wind up the same. Also, I was speaking my opinion, no need to get worked up about it.

I seem to recall that D2 is at it's best only when hammer forged. Anyone else hear that?

For the record, I haven't had any negative issues with any of my Kershaw or ZT S30V blades with regard to chipping unexpectedly or diffficult sharpening. To be fair however, I have never allowed my edge to be lost on any of those knives yet either. I steel or strop them after every use. Yes, I'm a dork, I have steels and strops strategically placed everywhere I go. My bail out bag, my truck, my office and of course at home . . . All of them will shave hair on any given day unless I just finished a tough job with the knife.

Reeek, you've just added another rumour to this thread ! If you're not happy with D2 then try CPM D2.
