S30v steel knives?

I have a ZT combat folder with s30v steel and if I cut vegetables on a bamboo cutting board for 10 minutes, it's dull. I'm not impressed. And don't tell me a combat folder is not for cutting vegetables, we're talking about the ability of a blade to hold an edge. I travel all over the world, and this is the knife I live with. A knife is for whatever you need it for. In my experience this steel is best used for nothing harder than cantaloupe. If you buy a knife with s30v, it will take an edge adequate to shave hair off your arm, but make sure you have a stone and strop. You'll need them.

I have nothing in m2 only m4 so I cannot compare. I can say however that my ti millie has been my edc knife for about 3 monthes and is used every day. I finally had to tone it up last Saturday. So I have been very impressed.

there are many knives that use this steel including Spyderco, Benchmade, Microtech, and versions of Kershaws. It holds a good edge and is fairly corrosion resistant. I really like and enjoy this steel and it is not terrible to sharpen.

The S30V is becoming a favorite for a lot of knife makers now. I have a TAD Gear dauntless that has an S30V blade. I also have been looking at kingdom Armory knives. they use it. Also Grayman knives, who are known for durability.

There is a noticeable difference in the quality of old threads, enough to generate nostalgia for the days when the General forum was captivating instead of barely readable.

Every 4 years a thread about S30V comes up.... oh wait, this same thread comes up every 4 years lol

.... even though now it probably competes for the title of MOST used steel in knives carried by BF members. It also seems that people knew more about steel in 2003... today all people have is a list of knives they own with the steel and "I love it!!!1!!!one!!!!"

This is what happens when someone searches Google and the resulting thread inspires them to make a BF account and comment.

My gerber covert auto uses s30v & can be found fairly cheap if you wanna try the steel out.

I love Spyderco's S30V. It just stays sharp. I've been using and carrying these knives for years (even took my Paramilitary 2 camping) and never needed to sharpen them; a few strokes on the honing rod once in a good while will do.
