S60V Blur Images

I'll second the "Double Vision".
I just got my hands on a SG2 Blur this week. I like the looks and light weight, but a flipper would make it more appealing.
Though I do still think the current Blur has it's place as one of the only assisted openers with no flipper.
It makes you learn to use the thumb-studs.

Oddly enough I noticed that it's actually easier to open using my index finger than thumb. While my thumb gets in the way and usually bumps the blade as it opens, the index finger follows a much more natural path.
I'm sure I'll get better at opening it normally with practice. It is fun to play with though.

On another topic altogether, I think the Blur could stand to have a thicker lockbar, mine seems to be wearing faster than I like.

I can't imagine how you're using your index finger to open a Blur...

For me, it's the easiest to use thumbstud opener of any folder I have with thumbstuds (all Kershaws except for a couple of Gerbers), and I have quite a few. The secret to its use (or any other thumbstud) is to apply force along the edge of the knife towards the top or pivot end of the knife (parallel to the body) and not push out perpendicular to the body in the opening direction. The thumb gets nowhere near the blade edge this way.

Your liner lock is wearing in less than a week? The Blur that I EDC has been used pretty heavily for about a year and there is no noticeable wear whatsoever. It's 440A-based and not SG2, however the portion of the tang on the SG2 model that comes in contact with the liner lock is probably a part of the blade that's 410 stainless. I haven't been carrying my SG2 Blur and haven't played with it enough for it to wear. As far as thickness goes, thicker is almost always better, but it's a pretty stout liner lock for the knife's size and blade thickness...almost half the thickness of the blade, which is more than on many liner locks.

If you notice lock wear in less than a week, perhaps it's time for a call to customer service. :)

i dunno, i love opening the blur with the reverse ice pick grip using my ring finger

Ok DOUBLE VISION it is!!

SpeedSafe, Frame Lock with a 3.75" blade, Black both PE & SE blade choices, and 154CM or D2 blade !!!

Since since your going to have to re-tool anyway might as well go for it.!

So when can we expect this "new" knife to hit the streets. Early 09 ? :D

Btw did any notice that this smiley :D kinda looks like Glockman? :D:D

I can't overcome the tension of the SpeedSafe torsion bar that way on the Blur...just have weak fingers, I guess. :)

I can pinky-flp my ZT0300s, though...:D

...guess that shows that flippers are easier...

ill see if i can't get a vid up. its actually kinda easy if you think of it like a jydI or a flipper where you need to pretension. there is very very little movement involved and it looks kinda like an auto cause most people don't see the motion involved.

A video would be cool!

Thanks,

Very nice looking Blur, Thomas. Love the look of the OD handle and now I've got another stonewashed blade to go with my G10 Leek.

Very Nice,
Jon

Now that you mention it, the liner seems to have stopped advancing right in the middle of the blade, pretty much centred on the SG2.
It went through the first bit of tang pretty quick, maybe because of the softer steel, though this could be the natural sticking point for the lock regardless of blade type.
I still think Kershaw does some of the best liner locks on the market.
Here's a pic.

Kershaw does do a good liner lock, and the Blur's is one of the best.

If it stays there, that's not a bad place to be. :)

Uggg... S60v Blur...R.A.M. S60v Blur... R.A.M. Which do I get? You're killing me Thomas.

Also, my Needs Work went through the first bit of steel on it's 13C26 blade pretty quick too, but it stopped in the middle about where your SG2 Blur's lock did. It locks up real solid there though, and it isn't wearing out anymore, so I don't really worry about it.

Ahhh...there's the problem...you have to look at it as breaking in, not wearing out...:D

No worries is good...:)

I don't know what to do now....I have like 20 EDC's. I need to sew on more pockets. :D

In the same vein, I was flipping through an LL Bean catalog the other day and saw a jacket advertised with 16 pockets. Naturally, my first thought was I wonder if I can stash all my folders in there? We are sick people. ;)

I never got to handle one of the old Boas in S60V, but I have a Spyderco Military in that steel (though Golden has always referred to it as 440V) and it's a nice blade. I think folks that haven't tried it before will be pleased.

I still have my old Boa. Kershaw heat treated the steel perfectly as usual, and got a great edge on this very wear resistant steel. One of the reasons I have high hopes for this Blur. It should also be one of the rarer Kershaws and difficult to find in a few years time. It makes me want two. At this price it's quite a deal too. I hope others ( not kershaw fans) have this one go by under their radar. Joe

What a beauty! The OD green handle is awesome.

I hope there will be soon another "Super Blur" with this handle color - maybe with solid CPM D2, CPM S90V, ZDP189, SG2 :D or another high grade blade steel... ;)

yes, a flipper version of the blur might make for a very interesting knife............what do you think thomas?

That OD handle does look real nice. Will there be any chance of any future Kershaws with this color handle? Right now i can picture a leek with a black plain edge blade with black clip and OD handle.....:D

EDIT: Oh, and black screws too:D

glsj1011, that Leek actually exists in both a plain and combo edge. 1660ODCKT & 1660ODCKTST.

Thanks Thomas, i've never seen or heard of this model before. I just did a search for it and found it, and it looks awesome, so i might order one. Just out of curiosity, how old is this model? Thanks again for pointing out that my dream leek is already a reality:D:D
