S90V or S125V Military sprint run.

Carlos, I had a custom folder in S90V and I had a tough time sharpening it. That's really the only reason I have reservations. I have not heard of S125V before this thread so I have some catching up to do on newer steels. I'm kicking myself I didn't grab one of the Burgandy Calypso's in the ZDP189 steel. I like good old D2 alot and the S30V in the Paramilitary is a good blade steel. I bet a Military in almost any blade steel with Carbon Fiber handles would get some takers.

All I want is a carbon fiber Military, S30V or S90V or S125V, any way is fine.

A small (450 pieces) CF Military sprint run will be out in a month or two.

If Spyderco is already gonna do a sprint run of CF why not an additional 200 or so with S125V? I would definitely buy one or two. The different steel and handle material should really spark some interest, maybe even serial number them.

If this does come about send me an email so I can get in line for one of these.

My choice would be a para-military with the S125V steel. the size of the blade is about the best you could ask for.

But, I would buy any type of premium steel for a militaty or para, but not the Naitive.

Originally Sal point was to try S90V on some model - like Military. And he mentioned 125V not S125V - which may mean that it is not stainless (or may be this is just typo).

It will be good to have some knife made out of S90V, Military will be nice - it was made of S60V and S90V as I understand is kind of improved for performance S60V (as well as S30V is improved for price substitution of S60V).

There is orange G10 around. It looks great! And it is very hard to lost in snow, in grass, etc... Let it be SAR Military (no serration please).

Thanks, Vassili.

Vassili,

there is only S125V - it has 3.25% C, 14% Cr, 12% V, 2.5% Mo, typical hardness HRC 62-64. It is a high performance upgrade to CPM S90V.

Non-stainless is CPM Rex 121, a super high speed steel, with 3.40% C, 4% Cr, 9.50 V, 5% Mo, 10% W, 9% Co, and typical hardness is HRC 67-69. According to CPM this is a steel with the highest wear resistance and hardness available in any tool steel.

As I said on a different thread, make the Milli in M4.....!!!! With a compression lock!!!!!

The Military is a great, just like it is. I love mine.
Don't change anythig, but, make it with S90V? I'll take another one!

I have 3 questions about the Carbon Fiber Military. I apologize if they have already been asked and answered (the search function seems to be down).

1. Will the handle be smooth or textured?
2. Will the blade have "Military" stamped on it?
3. Are there any prototype photos?

Thanks.

1. Textured
2. No
3. see below

I would have been nice for the 125V to have been used in the CF Military.

I would rather see the Para in this new steel, considering we just got a special CF Millie.

I'm glad to see there is still interest! Mili or para I'm in either way, just trying to wait patiently.

s125v interesting to, however I have more interest in cpm 154 cn? I think that's what it's called. The steel is supposed to have a very fine-grained, with almost no carbide streaks it might have a very fine finished look compatible with carbon fiber sprint run. What about an American-made laminate partially because I think the laminates look really nice. They also had a certain degree of corrosion resistance, and possibly mitigate weaknesses in impact resistance in the harder steals.

Basically I think they look cool and would like to see one in g-10.
And if you're going to reintroduce the lum Chinese folder please please please make the liner lock a little thicker. Or use a compression lock. I had two of them in neither of them seated rocksolid.

But as for the military I probably wouldn't buy one sorry, just being honest. Somehow that reads like one long run-on sentence.

A BTTT just because I am still interested in a Mili or Para in either blade steel.

Chime!! I am in!! Oooooh, sounds good to me!! I too would buy one just to try the steel!!

As much as I love the Military design (I have 2: a SE 440V & a PE DLC S30V) I don't think I'd purchase one in either steel if that was the only change. I am well aware of the difference in performance between S90V/S125V and S30V. That being said I'm perfectly satisfied with the performance of my DLC PE S30V model. The next thing that will get me to purchase a new Military will be the addition of a compression lock model. I'm satisfied with the performance of the blade steel (S30V) in my PE Military but would really like to see a compression lock version.

Build a compression lock model without changing any of the other ergonomic qualities and I'll buy a SE version & a PE version even if the steel was left as S30V.

I can think of one other applications better suited for S90V or S125V. How about using it in Paramilitary? It already has the compression lock and mine is rock solid? Just a thought.
