Sabenza. Is it worth it?

Clearly this thread needs more sebenza porn:

Here's $750 of pure hype, braggart and wasted money. :D

Funny! The holes aren't evenly spaced. Looks like a Highschool metal shop project!

The fact is the Buck 110 is value priced at $30 with the best heat treatment in the business by Paul Bos and the Sebenza is over priced at $400 with less utility and no real advantage other than braggart's rights and wasted money!

you've made it very clear that you've never owned or used a sebenza. I give your trolling attempts a 3 out of 10.

Come on get real! I just cannot see the $400 worth in a piece of metal to take a photo of and have the fanboy's chant Ooo AHh as no one else will know or care what a Sebenza knife is and its really just an illusion as a Buck 110 will out perform it in all manners for $30 and that's the facts!

Sour grapes...ain't got the bucks to make an informed decision.

The Sebenza would make a great rough work backup for the new owner of this 3-1/4" blade...and the holes look pretty good. With an asking price of $24,500 the Sebenza seems pretty economical in comparison.

I've handled them before as my father is a knife dealer. I personally think the Sebenza is over priced at $400 and the one pictured above with crooked drilled holes for $750. Come on get real!

OK we get it , you don't like the Seb , don't feel it is worth it , we got it , we might not agree , but we got it , but when you make light of another makers work ( yes that work was done on the aftermarket ) , you are starting to really show your true troll like colors.

Brick & mortar store ? Online ? Gun show ? What types of knives does he carry , and how can you , the son of a knife dealer be so uneducated about knives ?

No sour grapes here, just an observation and opinion.

I haven't ever seen a Lake Knife, what makes it worth $24,500!

I am not the son of a knife dealer ; )

"No sour grapes" ha...

There are probably a lot of dealers that would love to sell CRK (or Busse) knives but those companies have control of their distribution and discounting to zero margin doesn't take place. So what does a dealer do who doesn't have the Sebenza to sell, he claims it to be over priced and moves the customer into something he does have to sell. Same thing with Benchmade since they are tightening their distribution.

Cost of Ron Lake knives? Ask your father the knife dealer...hopefully he will have heard of Ron Lake knives.

Presumably the same thing that makes a Lg Sebenza a $385 knife -- that's what the market determines to be fair value.

The Sebenza is not a new knife, and CRK is not an upstart company. If the knives were not appropriately priced, they wouldn't sell and CRK would be out of business.

As another Reeves (Rosser) said: To make a claim which the product does not possess merely increases the frequency with which the consumer observes its absence.

Get it? All the positive word of mouth, advertising, industry awards, etc, would eventually prove disastrous for CRK if the product did not warrant it.

Just curious, is your opinion of a knife is that it "just" needs to cut & that's it?

If the Sebenza or any higher end production, semi-production, &/or custom knife is not "worth it" to you, that's fine. However, other than your opinion of it not being worth it, that's about it.

Liking a certain knife is very subjective. However, just because you don't like it &/or don't feel it's worth it, doesn't make it fact or any truer for anyone else.

While most everyone else basically states that they feel the Seb's a great knife & worth it if you like it, you seem to go out of your way to say it's not worth it & not a very good knife.

The point is, you've made your point, you don't like the Seb & don't feel it's worth it. You've also stated you've based it on just handling it, not actually carrying/using it. OK, fine, YOU don't like it. Enough said. Thank you for your enlightened opinion.

Now, still based on subjectivity (My opinion only), I think the Sebs are great knives. I've had several Bradely Aliases (I & II), Buck/Mayo TNT & Waimea, Striders (3 different of each: PTs & SnGs), along with some other knives, including some customs. I always seem to come back to the Seb. In my case, it's a small 21 micarta Seb. On the lg., I personally prefer the Umnum to the lg. Seb, but I could/would "make do" if I couldn't get/have an Umnum.

I will admit that while I'd rather have the Seb to some of the other knives mentioned, there was/is nothing really wrong with the others, I just prefer the Seb.

To the OP, good luck & let us know which Seb you get. To "Syltetoy", hey, chill, it's only a knife.

Lost in space no doubt, and really on the edge with trolling by making obviously uneducated statements about a knife he/she has no knowledge of, and then ridiculing those who speak favorably of the same knife in order to inflame. If it looks like a troll , sounds like a troll, and acts like a troll, then it must be a troll! Oh yeah, before I forget. I am throwing away $445 in two weeks for one of these overpriced sebenzas so I can gain fanboy status. I can't wait!

I recently bought an umnunzaan. Until you have a crk you understand what

allthe hype is about....there is no hype. A crk is worth every penny and then

some if youve had a lot of other knives like I have. Another poster said he

was going to sell all his knives and keep his umnun which the same way I

feel about mine.Yes I will be buying more crk ....I like my umnun so well I

might have to buy an umnun tanto.

I havent carried any other knife since I got umnun and dont plan to stop

any time soon!!

I used to think that $400-500 folding knives was ridiculous. But then i picked up a hinderer and a tanto umnummunmnzann (something like that) and I realized that they were well worth the money. Quality of mnaterials, innovation and design, fit and finish, all those things cost money. But when they come together the results are fantastic.

I liked my first CRK small CGG sebenza so much that I picked up a plain 21 for EDC.

So far thats, what $400 + $330 = $730 in CRK sebenzas. Yup I think they are well worth it.:D

Next on the list is a Doggy Paws Sebenza. :p
