Sad day...lost our bushcraft companion...

Buddy I don't know what to say, I got tears in my eyes just reading ya post !
Just try and think of the good times ya both shared and I've heard there are plenty of really slow rabbits to chase in heaven !

I have always had dogs. They are part of the family and you know going in that you will outlast them.... it's part of the cycle- My promise is always to give the next one as good a home or better as my current one(s).

In the proper time, losing them is sad, but its part of the duty.

But having one go before his time is gut wrenchingly awful. I feel for you and your family immensely. smoke sent, from all of us.

Sorry to hear this. I remember how hard it was to lose the dog I grew up with. No matter how bad you screw up during the day your dog is always glad to see you. Mac

Aw, man. This was a rough post to come home to. So sorry to hear about this, Rock6 - particularly because of the impact on your son. I hope that you guys can move from grieving your lost companion to getting to know a new one without too much difficulty. Canine companions can never really be replaced, but they can certainly be remembered fondly.

All the best,

- Mike

...you just can't replace family members.

Thanks all for your condolences, prayers and smoke...

ROCK6

You can never replace family members, but you can adopt and make him/her apart of your family as you did with any canine companion. My condolences for your loss, I recently lost a dog too and it aint ever easy no matter how many dogs you take in over the years.

Sorry to hear that Rock. We had to give up one of our dogs due to within-pack conflicts that were getting worse and worse. It felt bad even giving Max to a new family who we met and trust and even went and visited max a couple of times afterwards. Anyhow, I know how it feels to miss a buddy who was a constant in your life over the years. Dogs really do work their way into your hearts. Sometimes I can't wait to be relieved of the responsibility of my other one....However, most times I enjoy her company. Hope it goes well with your son.

I suggest waiting a month or two before deciding on a replacement dog if you think you are going to go that route.

Rock, please accept my condolences. My dog and I are together 7 x 24 except when I am away working as I am this week. I am really missing her bad and just saw your post. Please accept my sincere regrets, condolences and smoke...g

My heart goes out to you and your family, it's always hard losing a member of the family.

Losing loved ones is never easy. Dogs truly do define unconditional love. You have my sincerest condolences.

So very sorry for your loss. I have lost a few dogs in my life and I still miss them all. Prayers inbound...
