That's what I told my son...I told him Leo would be in heaven waiting for him. I told him that some people don't think pets go to heaven and his response was that Leo took a piece of soul from each of us so he as a soul to go to heaven. I think he's right.

We're going out to have a guy's day out. We spent our time mourning and now we're going to celebrate Leo's life. He's convinced God let us make it back to GA (where we first rescued him) so he could be put to rest and make room for us to rescue another dog. He'll be missed, but he's left us all memories we'll never forget. Thanks all for the responses...my son was shocked by all of them and some of your own stories have made it easier for him to deal with this loss and that he's not alone. Thanks again,

Sorry man.
Take your kid and head to the animal shelter.
There will be one there that needs your help and you need it's help, to get through this.
 
Very sorry for your loss.

Don't hesitate, go save another poor soul at the shelter.

It will take all of your minds off Leo for a bit and make it a little easier. Plus, the new dog will get a nice home and a second chance.
