Sage 2 or Sebenza?

Alright folks...

I'm looking for my EDC blade. While this OD green/black mini griptilian just feels rock solid, and has absolutely no blade play, it is too scary looking IMO for cutting an orange at the office.

I've narrowed it down. For my money (which is not unlimited, but I can buy a Sebenza and not be bankrupt), which should I buy and why?

1. Spyderco Sage 2
2. Small Sebenza
3. Large Sebenza

I held a Sebenza a couple months ago before I knew what they were, and don't remember being incredibly overwhelmed. But I have learned a lot since then.

I tried a Spyderco Sage 1 today, and liked it a lot.

Discuss. =)

Honestly.

How much do you feel like spending at the moment?

$160ish for the Sage 2
$330 for the Sebenza Small
$385 for the Sebenza Large

Whatever amount you feel like blowing from these three prices you will end up with something you are happy with.

In the long run you'll have all three anyways...

I don't see why you need to spend that much money to cut an orange.

Just buy a Sebenza, and if you don't like it, sell it. You will most likely end up with the "grass is always greener" issue, and end up buying one anyway. So just buy it now and get it over with.

If you like the mini grip that much just use the knife and don't worry about what people think or try to educate them on knife usage. If you are allowed to have it then don't worry about it because if someone is going to give you a hard time about a mini grip they will most likely give you a hard time about any knife. If you are really worried about what they think then get a Swiss Army Knife since just about everyone doesn't mind them.

It is just a knife, buy one. You can always buy a different one if you don't like it. You could read for days about any one of those knives and get all the information you could ever want but only you can decide if you like it and can afford it. Make a decision for yourself and do it.

Hah I love this forum...the sickness of it all...

How you all assume I will EVENTUALLY buy one anyway...

As if there is no choice...=)

Nah, you won't buy one. You probably never had any intention to. Now trolling, that's another story.

Well Freq,

How about this, I've owned both and the Sebenza is gone and the Sage II is in my pocket right now and has been everyday since I bought it. The marginal increase in refinement is ever so slight and at the price difference cannot be justified. Frankly, the Sage II is a better design; at a better price by far; and it doesn't give up much on refinement.

Hey, Buddy, buy the Sebenza! You will love it, if not immediately, then surely you will after carrying it for a little while. Enjoy the ride.

i say sebenza or small sebenza. because if you dont get one, youre always going to wonder what youre missing. and if you dont like it, you can always trade it.

now with small or large thats up to you. small for me is PERFECT size. it's just a tad bigger than a mini grip if that helps u picture the size better. i like my knives a little smaller. if you like em bigger go with the large.
