We found out about a month ago that he had stage 4 cancer. He fought his way through 4 weeks, the pain meds really sapped his energy, and we never got a chance to repair his knee. He really lost his appetite earlier this week, and we decided it was time. He was only 9, but he had a "Heart of a Bear Killer" He protected my fiance and I in the bush on more than one occasion, from roaming dogs, killer bunnies, and at least one aggressive deer. My soul is broken, I have truly lost a companion.

My heart goes out, the 4-leggeds always take a little piece of us with them... Good on you for not being selfish and dragging it on for your on sake, I have seen too many people to that, and it's too bad.

My daughters dog started limping all of a sudden. We took her to the Vet and she has Bone cancer in the right front shoulder. She has her on pain meds, the same one that I take for my shoulder. My daughter hopes to let her make it through the rest of the summer. Her dog is 16 years old though ,it's had a long life for a large dog. Sad for you, it is tough when our best friends get to that point. Sounds like your dog was a good and loyal friend.

My condolences. You made the toughest decision a pet owner has to make and you made it for the love of your pet. May he be free from pain for ever more.

I don't know you, but I know the emotions you are having.

My deepest sympathies.

It may be life, but it isn't right.

sorry bro, it sucks to lose someone close to you. Always best to try and think of the good times you shared together.

:(
