SAK Mods! Post your pics, questions and ideas

Follow-up: carried it a few weeks; didn't work out. Now it's in the drawer. :(

What happened to ”meet my needs perfectly”?

Since you do liners in G-10, you should try to make the springs in G-10 as well, could be a really cool light weight mod :)

Copied over from maintenance forum where I posted originally:

Hello everyone. So, I picked up a Cybertool M at a bit of a steal. I always carry a multitool at work and been thinking of adding carrying one elsewhere. But, none fit the bill perfectly. So, the cybertool is close. I’m thinking of removing the large blade and replacing with a file, and maybe even the small blade to replace with a nail file. Who is the go to for doing or even learning Swiss army mods so that it is as good as factory? I am handy with tools (I build cars after all) but I’m not perfect lol.

Id also like to maybe delete the little key ring. And maintain the plus scales.

in my opinion I’d swap out the knife layer for a file layer and switch the hook with one from a compact that has a nail file in it. This configuration would keep the same thickness. Deleting the keyring is pretty straightforward as well. Looks like you’re on the right track for a great mod that fits your needs.

I decided to make my own full tang SAK style can opener for the kitchen as I am sick of the store bought can openers braking every few years. I think this may be the very first full tang SAK style can opener in existence. It was not easy to weld without wrecking the temper but I think I managed as it works and there was no damage to the blade. The tang was made from salvaged 440C. The liners are aluminum and the scales were 3D printed with PETG. Hidden brass pins and a copper through hole for some para-cord I will add later.

I cut it with a thin cut dremel blade , sliced back and forth a few times going a bit deeper in the center each pass .
