Samuel Lurquin - A Belgian bladesmith you're going to want to know about.

Hello to all, I take advantage that the day is finished and that j have some time to write and make a small presentation

I do not remember any more, but I think that i was always fascinated by art, history and ancient weapons.
Being fascinated by it, i studied in plastic art and later, i did a robust training course of forge in school of blacksmith's trade (marshal férrant) in Brussels (Belgium)

Then, everything in begun for me when i met Gustaff Vanbellegem who sharpened kitchen knives in the restaurant or worked my wife, since, he became my friend and is him who realizes all my sheath.

Further to this meeting, He allowed me to meet meet Achim Wirtz ( German cutler) Who learnt me on the treatments of the steel.

From there, During a Knife show in Paris"SICAC" I met Daniel Vally, it was a big change for me on my work and my vision of the knife and it grace to him. DanielVally is a cutler very known and recognized in France and in Europe, is a specialist of the damasscus and the reconstruction of damasscus Merovingian.
Thanks to him pure the road which i have make grace to him.

Due to the continuation, having always liked cutlery industry American and your phylosophie of the knife, i was able to grace to a friend, to meet Joe Keeslar, What will lead me to present me to the examination Js in June, 2012.
Always fascinated by the work of Jason Knight, Linen Rhéa, I hope to be as high as this new challenge, Thanks to Jason and to Linen for them invaluable advice and encouragements.

I work as dog Master in sections anti riot since 15 year, but this is another story ...

Voila for my small presentation
Thanks to all for your warm welcome

Respectfully
Samuel Lurquin

I makes you my excuses for my strange language...;-)

Hello everybody,

As I'm the happy owner of this blade and sheth,I would like to participate in this thread, thanks to my official translator,my english beeing very basic...

I'm a friend of Suzanne and Joe Keeslar. They use to spend a week at my place every year. This year,I introduced Joe to my belgian friends Sam,Gustaaf and Dirk. We spend a few "exceptional" days, the kind of days I like very much.
Joe immediately fell in love with Sam's knives, and,if you ever meet him, ask him to talk about the "Big Sam" line.
Enclosed, you will find a few pics with more details. Sorry for the poor quality of the pics,I'm not a professional!
You will see some scratches on the blade because I use this knife in the woods, when walking my dog.The blade is made of "ultrafort",a very special steel, almost indestructible, used as armor plates for tanks,a "mad man" kind of steel.
Carrying this very big knife is very comfortable and completely invisble, wich is very good as far as the french regulations are concerned!
I wish you all a very nice day.
Looking forward to your comments.

Sorry for the crash ... it is very difficult for me!
If someone can do the cleaning would be nice !

Claude

Hi Claude - nothing wrong with your pics and definitely nothing wrong with that terrific knife and sheath.

We are almost to the point of proclaiming the "Jason Knight" style of knives. Jason has trained so many makers and inspired even more with his clean and stylish work that I am happy to notice a new generation of knifemakers that closely emulate his style.

Not only does Sam make very nice knives, he's also a very generous guy who sponsored the Dutch Knife Exhibition with two beautiful knives to raffle amongst the public.

Hey Christian..

To speak it's good, but shows we rather a photo of your Knife....

This knife, imagined by Christian and Sam was a present for a friend of Christian doctor in Africa.

But when it was ended, he kept it...

To tell the complete story ...
I designed this knife with Sam input, comments and corrections.
We finally got this knife made ... simple and very efficient.

But ... Caroline was a bit affraid by the look? this is why I kept it for my personal use.
And the reason why Caroline will be tomorrow the happy owner of YOUR knife Berno :jerkit:

Too late Berno !

Sam makes also knives in a more realistic dimension.
