Sandblast vs glass last?

I like glass blast on inlay 31's. It really finishes up the knife well, especially with some woods. I hope to grab a Large Box Elder Insingo 31 at some point. But, I just don't like it much on my 21's. Then again, I'm weird and YMMV

As an aside... I sent a CRK glass blasted PJ 21 Insingo I picked up on the exchange back to CRK Spa-land in the last 2 weeks. Penny called to confirm my order... Anyhow, if you check the box to re-blast the knife, they will go with whatever finish is on the knife when they receive it unless you verbosely specify a change. In this case, no biggie to go back to sandblast, but it would have been sent back to me as glass blasted had we not chatted. In the comment section on the web form I wasn't very clear on reverting the finish. My 2 cents
Good to know. Ill be sure to specify which finish i want. I have a factory glass zaan ive been thinking about sending into get sand blasted. I miss the snails.

Here’s a question… anyone know of PDW or Starbenzas or “Think Twice Code” can be reblasted?

Has anyone ever seen a glass blasted Wilson Combat Sebenza? I’d love to see what that looks like.

I had mine done by CRK during a spa visit.
Damn that looks good. It really accentuates the contrast in the milling which is what I was hoping for. Do you prefer the feel to the standard blast?

Also is that a small “Idaho made” logo or large?

I much prefer the feel of the glass blast personally. Most of my CRKs have now been glass blasted. I think it's the large logo, and it's a lefty. And Insingo obviously. It's a keeper in my collection for sure.

Well that’s interesting…. I sent a glass blasted 21 Insigno Micarta to be refreshed at the spa and I was kind of disappointed to find it had been sandblasted when they sent it back.

I’m actually thinking of sending it back and paying to have it glass blasted like it was originally.

Fixall Fixall You shouldn't have to pay to have it glass blasted again. When you send a knife in they should reblast with whatever finish the knife currently has. Changing finishes is where they charge $50. It sounds like they made a mistake and I’m certain they’d fix the mistake if you explain what happened.

Agreed with Mr. Spock. They shouldn't go from glass blast to sandblast without asking. And going from sand to glass is a $50 upcharge the first time only. That said, may be a stupid question, but had you paid for the glass blast upgrade on a previous spa trip? No 21s were made with that configuration originally, so if it was glass blasted since you bought it, CRK should have record of doing that work for you on the knife previously.

Ahhh, that could be it. It was purchased on the secondary market, and had been sent for a spa service previously. The original owner may have had it glass blasted when they sent it in.
