SanRenMu 710

Being new here it works in your favor to employ a little more diplomacy...I agree for the most part, I just think a lot of sebenza owners are very passionate. Is it in the same league as a CRK? HELL NO! the two are completely different cups of coffee, the fit and finish isn't what you expect out of a sebbie, but they are a great knife, they are adjustable, and for the price very modifiable and I got one in my pocket as I type this.

The topic has gone in a circle so many times it ain't even funny anymore...people will buy what makes them happy, I'm content with my SRM for now, but I have that itching to own a sebenza that has been there for years now.

How true! I took one of my little SRM 710s and tinkered it up, reground the blade, convexed it, and also ground down the top of the blade so it looks slimmer... it actually is not so tall, and then gave it a nice rounded crown on the top of the blade. It'll dig it with nary a problem now.

And it'll slice through the kind of stuff I toss at it... boxes, apples, oranges, tape, plastic bags, all those items that need a blade to take care of them when a seat belt limits movement.

Almost forgot. It's flicks open effortlessly. What's not to like? Well, it doesn't hold a razor sharp edge as long as I'd like, but for $10, who cares?

Related to this thread, and not wanting to hijack it, I simply want to point out the recent Sanrenmu 738. Perhaps their most attractive design, a chic, elegant linerlock folder with stainless steel handle scales, perfectly fitted CF inlays, and purple anodised liners. And it is to my knowledge not overly inspired by any western production knife (probably you can find some resemblances, but not as with the 710). No knife nut can hold it and say "this is just chinese crap". It has immediately become one of my favourite SRM knives, next to the 710, 763, and bigger 939.

I have two 710s, and another one of a different style. My experience with the other SRM knives, especially the 710s, along with your endorsement of the 738 was enough for me, and so I just ordered one. Looking forward to one of your excellent Youtube reviews  :D

WHATS GOING ON IN HERE???

oh never mind

i bought a Sanrenmu 962 and i liked it
heavy but strong
i would recommend it to anyone who wanted a cheap strong user knife.

I love my (2) SRM 710's. Cheaper than a small Sebenza and with the wa I maitain them, just as sharp. They take care of all of the mail and light cutting duties in my office and home.

They've been cranking for several months now and I just re-sharpened them this weekend and stropped them to a mirror finish. No rust, sweet action in the pivot, no blade play, full lock-up and highly flickable!! :D

I dont care how new someone is, but if you come in with a mouthful of lip and attitude expect to get called on it.

What hostility, ya hump!?!

:)

What's a "hump"

it seems like ive seen a lot of new people being not welcomed here and people acting like they are stupid.

You only get welcomed in your first few posts, then folks kind of expect you to read the rules of the road and behave nicley. Can't say that always has applied to me either. I've let my mouth write a few checks that the Mods wouldn't cash! :D I'm getting better though sometimes it's better to delete a post than slam somebody or say stuff that's out of line.

Where's the best place to order one of these and not have to wait three weeks to get it? I saw cheap prices but it said it shipped from China and would take 2 - 3 weeks.

I think I've ordered all my SRMs, Enlans, Bees and Navys from Exduct. Last order took 17 days to Toronto. There's a new model Enlan, the EL04MCT which has black and green micarta scales that looks really nice.

OH NO!!!

Just so you know, the 710 has been discontinued. But an identical design is now being sold as the 7010, and SRM has quite a few variants on the 7010. Go look for them if you want.

I just received a 7010 with camo handles and a black coated blade, and I expect it to serve me mighty well for my next annual military refresher course.
