SanRenMu goes Sandvik

This thread is about a knife that many have come to except as a decent value but at 10X that price maybe not to much. Is there a reply that said all Chinese stuff is crap?

Well I haven't handled the knife in question, but I know if you are getting a new SRM 910 it is a fake SRM. The company faking them is selling them for an inflated price because the 910 was a very popular model which has been discontinued., and almost impossible to find.

If you want something very similar to a 910, from a company that produces excellent knives try an Enlan EL06 @ around $12.

This is too funny. Chinese fakes of Chinese rip off designs. I'm not that cheap I have to buy any of that crap.

You did. You implied that SRM has no quality control compared to an American-owned brand. I was replying to that statement as it's not based anywhere in reality.

This is exactly what I said, "That may well be true but it doesn't mean they hold every product line to the same strict guidelines that a company like Spyderco would demand."

Where is it mentioned that SRM has no quality control? They are what they are and people are free to choose. I choose not to buy them for a myriad of reasons. The knives in the subject aren't even SRM knives.

Never been in a pissing contest on BF and my bladder is now empty...

Well you guessed wrong as we are not discussing an American owned, time & performance proven company. We don't have to "guess" or "hope" all is right with a brand such as Spyderco. Huge difference in my book.

No, that's what you said. Can you not read your own posts? This is also the post I replied to originally.

Yeah these aren't for everyone if you personally don't like them that's fine. I personally get a lot of enjoyment and use out of them, in fact I use them more often around the house than my $4-500 knives.

What I usually do for EDC is pair a cheap slicer with a Strider or WDZ Custom. That way I have a cheap but excellent performer that I'm not afraid to lend and still have a robust framelock with higher performing steel.

i took bigmo66's statement as him saying he trusts the quality control level of one company over another, whats the problem?

He wasn't stating an opinion, he was making a blanket statement "We don't have to hope or guess".

I refuted it by saying SanRenMu has had near universally good reviews on quality and fit/finish.

That's it, there's no problem. I'm just wondering why he suddenly won't give a straight response to me.

12C27 is a decent midrange steel, most French cutlery companies seem to think it is good enough.
The price of that special 910 was, if I remember correctly, just one site asking that much as they are strangely enough sought after.
Otherwise, if you look at Exduct, you will notice that all SRM knives are below $15.
In the past, I've recommended a Tenacious or Cara Cara as a good affordable starter knife. These days I rather recommend SRM or Enlan models, as they offer in essence the same quality. I usually say, with what you save, you have a headstart saving up for a premium Spyderco.

the trick is to enjoy good products at great prices. That 910+ seems to be a trade knife, made for export. Well, could be!

The idea that somebody would be faking a notorious ripoff company like SRM makes me snigger to no end.

Yeah, but is it true?

There aren't any sufficiently descriptive enough words in the English language to adequately illustrate how little of a defecation I give.

Running for you life in terror and then getting beaten to death and getting a large camp knife shoved up your bum sounds like a horrible way to go, but when it happened to Gadaffi, nobody shed a tear. When Michael Vick takes an especially violent tackle, only the refs cry "foul!" (because they have to). When the WBC gets their tires slashed and no repair shop will help them, everybody just laughs.

And that relates to SanRenMu- and MingRen knives how exactly..? Or did you not care..? I don't quite follow. What are we talking about?

Here's metaphorical illustration:

Still don't get it? OK, I'll spell it out for you.

SRM is a despicable company. They steal designs, trademarks, and patents. So when they get "stolen" from, I have zero sympathy. I just laugh.
