OP - first ganzo, now sanrenmu. what will be next?

I'd suggest Bee and Enlan. Some of my most carried cheap knives are from those two. Oh wait, was that a rhetorical question?

My favorite Bee:

My favorite Enlan:

The funny part of all of this is if he'd come on the board and asked about a decent budget folder I probably would have just sent him the Endura that just sits on my desk at work for a total expenditure of $0.

Serious question folks...is this particular SanRenMu a rip off of another knife? The reason I ask is RealSteel makes a locking version of this knife. I've always advocated for RealSteel Knives but will have to reconsider if they produce a rip off knife.

Thanks

Isn't SanRenMu and RealSteel the same company?

Maybe more maybe less. Im not positive but i dont think real steel makes anything but rather farm out work to different factories for their different price points. I know carson tech has made quite a few of their higher end models. But it could be just as likely that many of these brands are made in the same factory. The one thing i have learned in my couple years of researching chinas knife market is that they really dont like to tell anyone who has a hand in what.

Yes but you need to understand that reviewing counterfeits here will be about as heart warningly received as bringing a hooker home to meet mother and calling her your fiance.
...that's bad...??? I now understand the tension in the room when I did so..... ;)

How about participating is some way other than flogging cheap CHINA knives sold by a nonmember that sells knockoffs?

Here's a laugh, the nonmember vendor he is promoting sells counterfeit Quartermaster knives. Oh the irony!

No, that was because you introduced her while she was "in the act." Way to get your money's worth though.
....ahhhhhh I see...... yes.....maybe I needed to be more subtle....dammit....this relationship stuff is almost as tough and buying knives as a teenager....

It's my understanding that RealSteel was spun off from SanRenMu. The first RealSteels were ports of SRM knives with locking blades. When they brought out the very excellent H6 Blue Sheep they broke away from the SRM designs and began making much better knives.

So this knife is a knockoff of what exactly?

Also Sanrenmu is the only knife company I have seen so far using this double detent ball slipjoint style system. If you ask me the Sanrenmu that looks like a Sebenza is a great little knife. I believe it is the SanRenMu 710. Incidentally I have never seen SRMu getting flak for that knife. I think it is Enlan or Ganzo that make a knife that looks like the LionSteel SR1 with an axis lock.

Sometimes Sanrenmu gets caught up in the flak against other companies which commit more egregious acts.

What is the beef with SanRenMu exactly? Is it just the 710 having a resemblance to the Sebenza, or is there more?

Judging from your taste in folders I feel compelled to proffer some advice that'll carry you pretty far in life, young man:

never eat at a diner called "Mom's Place" and never buy a knife branded "RealSteel?"

But seriously, I think one of the best things to recommend Sanrenmu knives is that their blades are self-sharpening when cutting cardboard.
