Sanrenmu

So this knife is a knockoff of what exactly?

Also Sanrenmu is the only knife company I have seen so far using this double detent ball slipjoint style system. If you ask me the Sanrenmu that looks like a Sebenza is a great little knife. I believe it is the SanRenMu 710. Incidentally I have never seen SRMu getting flak for that knife. I think it is Enlan or Ganzo that make a knife that looks like the LionSteel SR1 with an axis lock.

From what I know, McHenry and Williams, the inventors of AXIS locking mechanism (see patent US5737841) exclusively licensed it to Benchmade, and I believe that disallows Sanrenmu from using it on their folders. Without getting into the patent enforcement debate and the ethics behind patenting something (which conveniently derails the argument), this is theft of intellectual property.

While all the knives from Ganzo, Elan, Bee, SanRenMu may look and feel good, they sport soft steel and have spotty QC (more often than not). Both conditions make it dangerous to use any of these knives. If money is an issue, it is best to stick with budget line from Kershaw, Spyderco, and even Benchmade, till you can pool up funds for the real axis lock or the LionSteel folder. Did I mention it is also fun to have a goal, and work towards it, than pacify oneself with cheap and dangerous knock-offs with little to no QC? These are knives, and your fingers are at stake. Choose wisely. :-)

Damn!! I was gonna send him a brand new 940, exclusive of course, and buy him a platinum membership.
Damn.

At the very least, civil language is a requirement for membership here. Utilize this time to take those lessons, and then come back. Good luck!

Sorry Pablo!!!
First you have to be about 14 years old, buy a Goonzo or 3, come here and rave about them, cry about how broke you are and then, most importantly, tell us all to go perform an anotomically impossible act upon ourselves!!
Then send me your address brother!!!

Problem is, knives these days are overpriced. If they were realistically priced, people wouldn't be looking for cheaper solutions. Fanboys fueling the market are the reason. If they would stop paying so much for the next
"so-n-so" collaboration, then they would have to rethink their marketing. I'm not paying several hundred dollars for knife with someones name on it when he doesn't, nor will ever step foot anywhere near it during manufacturing.

Justifying theft is exactly that. It's the fanboys? And the evil companies? And you don't have enough money? Right......

As far as I can see, this knife doesn't have an "AXIS" lock, it appears to have a liner lock, or did I miss something ?

There are plenty of inexpensive options out there from a variety of quality brands. Many of them collaborate with big name makers to introduce their designs to more budget minded folks.

Overpriced. They might be over the price you'd pay for them, but if they sell, then they were priced appropriately.
