@Sao2 (Scott Orange) scammed me for $300 and @David L for $170

Few reasons for that:
Honesty-wanting to pay fees for a service used
Protect your buyers protection with PP
Protect his sellers protection with PP
 
I will let you all know how it turns out. I have used friends and family to transfer money here except for this one because I was not in my normal section where I purchase knives with people I see online all the time and something just felt a little off, hard to explain. There are so many people that I do business with here that I trust and honestly really never worry about it not working out. I will however use the products and services from now on just to help cover if anything goes wrong and as Peter said PayPal is providing a service.

He is saying I am lying so I am still waiting to hear back from PayPal. I filed with the USPS to investigate for fraud I don't expect to hear anything back from them because they do not do the money side just the criminal charges and they work with other agencies when needed. It's been a busy week but when I get the time I will see if I can file in some other places as well.

Forget about the terms PP is using that are sometimes misconstrued by their customers and look at it this way:

If you expect ANYTHING AT ALL in return for money you send to someone through PP, use Goods & Services. I don't care if you've known the recipient for 20 years and he lives next door to you.

If you expect NOTHING in return for money you send to someone through PP, feel free to use F & F.

Simple really, but this issue comes up often and victims are always shocked when they get bent over.
 
Remember, if you pay for something with F&F, you aren't paying for anything. You're giving a sizeable gift and hoping the other person return gifts you an item approximately worth what you gave them. They are not obligated to do anything, you just gave them money for seemingly no reason.
 
There is a guy selling a stitch in the auto section right now wanting friends and family AND wanting buyer to pay fees.

While not everyone using F&F for sales is a scammer (of the buyer, anyway), F&F facilitates scamming.

But people continue using it from ignorance or greed or both. IMHO aside from scammers, the worst are the ones who just lazily say "Net to Me." It's bad enough they want to scam Paypal, now I have to calculate their sale price for them?

What protection does g&s offer a seller over f&f? And I totally agree with you on people who demand net to me and f&f only. Sadly greed is an issue on the forum and many don't think the same way.

Easiest to just google Pay Pal seller protection for full discription, but there are situations where the buyer gets a refund and PP pays out of their pocket to the seller.

I think it's interesting because a lot of the high-volume sellers on WTS do this. I don't know if they're all bad people, but one reason they do that is because they don't participate in the forum outside of the FSOT forums, so they don't seem to understand the forum zeitgeist about F&F.

Interesting, thanks for the feedback. As I’m learning how this all works, what does WTS and FSOT mean?
