SAR5 unpopular?

I like the flat butt a lot, and the handle is perfect for use wearing gloves.
The talon hole seems out of place, but I have already forgot it's there...
The real deal is the price!! Cheaper that a game warden:cool::cool:

I really considered grabbing one but after the return of the NO-E (for me) I am set. But I do really like the looks of it. To each his/her own. ;)

I bought 10 of them at Knob Creek (3 of which were proxies), and had buyer's regret for not getting more in the 'ganza. They certainly aren't typically Busse Combat, but I think of them as a throwback to a more classic design, like a Nessmuk. I'm holding onto mine; I may end up trading one or two someday, but as when I bought Rat Traps at the previous Knob Creek, SAR 5s were an absolutely "no regrets" buy.

I couldn't figure out how to hold it comfortably, my hand kept wanting to slide up or down, too much handle there for me.

it is very utilitarian and survival type, not very busse. I think it is a nice type and I am keeping two.

I like it.

The one that I got was the first of several pieces of INFI and Busse-kin that arrived for me.

After holding and having other models of Busses now, it definitely isn't a "traditional" style of Busse - it is unique from my limited experiences.

The balance is further back than where you would expect it to be and the handles are fat. Knowing that, I think it makes it a very functional knife.

When I end up getting a proper sheath for it, it will probably be added to my hiking gear as a permanent piece. I may end up picking up one or two more as well.

My black/black just looks at me and it's one of the first Busses that makes me wonder what the raw INFI would look like with the coating removed...

When I first received mine I was'nt too crazy about it and I put it on the trade board after a few days. After no bites I pulled it I starded using it around the house. Now its on my short list of all time favorites. I'm sure glad I decided not to trade it.

I have two, and one of them is a Ban special. Haven't used the Ban version yet as it's rediculously sharp and I don't have a sheath for it.

As for the Tan/Sage one, I have it in a killer Steelnut drop leg sheath. Taken it hiking a couple times and it is a VERY useful knife IMO. The handle fills my hand better than my BATAC LE, more comfy...

Edge is good and the usable blade length is excellent. Used it to clear some underbrush and invasive items from the trail, and used it to widdle away bark and shoots for my kids walking sticks.

I'm keeping mine for sure...

For those of us that love this knife, let's not forget.......it almost wasn't produced :eek::eek: Thanks Boss, no complaints here  (especially since that was part of the deal lol)

I like the SAR5 quite a bit. The lack of a choil gives you a lot of blade for the size and weight. I like it better than the BATAC that I sold but not as much as my RMD.

+1

I think the handle on my SAR5 is about 3/16" too wide, but it still feels good...just different.
An INFI Ratmandu would be my most prized knife of all time. Whenever I go on a trip, I pack my RMD first and decide which other knife I'm going to take.

I love mine. Feels good in my hand and it packs a pretty big blade in a smallish package.

I wish I had another....

.

The worst of the "BEST" might have been the intended meaning;)

but I aint speaking for him.

Uncle J's beat enough to speak for himself:D

Nahh
I mean WORST Busse I have ever used. period

It is only my opinion. I use most of my blades.

First day I got it I took the sar5 out to the forest for work.
I really wanted to like this blade, believe me. It did not look too bad and felt ok in my hand. It just could do nothing right. Horrible for chopping, cutting. I put it through all the paces like I do for my SJs.
Jerry was right.. ...
If ya like this blade, cool , awesome. Different strokes for different folks.
Thats the beauty of Busse.. Soo many blades to choose from.. If ya don't like it sell it and buy a different model.
I find the SJ supreme for this size catagory. I still think the SAR5 might be ok for kitchen duty if satin and convexed..
Can't go wrong with the initial price though. Thats what sucked me in..

On second thought, I'll leave this to the cooler heads.

Jarvis, claims like that should be backed up, please explain.

LOL ......Cooler heads...WTF !

I'm as cool as they come baby..

Own one and I like it. A lot. It's still in the "hold and drool" stage, but will be used as a sweet upgrade to a Swamp Rat Howling Rat without reaching SJ Tac or ASH lengths!

The handle is solid and I like the squared butt. The lack of front guard is also refreshing - while still retaining the talon hole (hey, a trademark is a trademark)!

Thanks Jerry for such a great knife at a spectacular price!! Even with a sheath it still cost less than a Boney Active Duty...
