Buyers beware.

The Sauer Rangermade "SAYOC" Kali Eskrima knife that is being offered by Rangermade is NOT endorsed by the Sayoc organization or family.

The product in question is found here:

"Sayoc" is a registered trademark and only the terms "Kali" and "Eskrima" are generic descriptions that can be used.

The Rangermade Sauer blade looks like a modified "HUNTED" tracker knife from Topps/Beck.

Thanks for the heads-up, Rafael!

That link had ad-copy that made Dark Ops' ads seem subtle. :barf:

I don't know about you guys, but I've become more masculine just from reading the ad

:)

And yes, I agree it looks like a variant of the knife from the Hunted

Thanks for the move Cougar - this is a more appropriate thread.

The Rangermade folks now changed their description to "Non-Sa'yoc" blade after the Sayoc legal folks got a hold of them.

The disclaimer now includes this piece of spin:

"A concerned handful of enthusaists observing an obscure filipino based cutlery practiced may have been offended"

They figured since Sayoc was "obscure" they wouldn't have a registered trademark.

:D

That spin should be preserved for the entertainment of future generations:

Non-Say'oc Eskrima $1,195.00

This blade originally called the Amercukri has until recently been called by RangerMade staff the Sa'yoc Kali Eskrima. We have received a rash of spam over the Sayoc name which is now being looked into. A concerned handful of enthusiasts observing an obscure filipino based cutlery practice may have been offended. To temporarily ammend this offense we will call the piece the "Non-Sa'yoc Eskrima.

And a picture of the ... um ... knife-like object ...

heh... I don't know who Rangermade is trying to fool here.

Instead of just doing the right thing and removing any semblance of the word, "Sayoc" they alter the spelling and punctuation slightly.

Anyone seeking a Sayoc endorsed blade would instantly be turned off by their shameless appropriation of the word, so there's really no purpose now to hang on to this bastardized spelling.

This is not even counting what many here see as the obvious crudeness in design and craftsmanship utilized to create the overpriced hunk of metal.

True, some of our Sayoc students forged their very FIRST blades at a bladesmithing seminar held by Tuhon Tom Kier awhile back, and had better results than the now out of production 1000 dollar Rangermade.
