Say NO to Lamey

Unfortunately I don't still have the e-mails we exchanged.

So, wouldn't this mean that he got back to you if you exchanged e-mails? The way you make it sound is he blew you off by not getting back to you. BTW, how did you get burned if you sent him no money?

Mike

Hey Tom,

You better watch out. If you hurt his feelings you might see a bad post about you too.

Mike

He is just an obvious troll, for crying out loud. All of his posts were in this absurd thread. You actually don't think he is going to respond to all of this, do you?

If this joker ever had an actual exchange with Lamey, then I am sure his childish behavior was the cause of the business termination.

If he is just here because he has some strange vendetta against the knifemaker, then the irony, that such publicly posted behavior is only going to increase the business of his target, is probably lost on his small intellect.

VERY bad form! :(

and with your attitude, I can understand Matts reluctance to do business with you!

That's it, Tom! I doubt if you'll get an order from him now either.........;) :p

Alright, I thought it over.

I am never going to order from Matt Lamey, Tom Mayo, Kit Carson, A.T. Barr, Geno Denning, Bill Simons, Don Fogg, Mike Obenauf, Charlie Ochs,Scott Sawby, etc. etc.

They never get their knives to me when I DEMAND them to be delivered. I just thank old "womb" for bringing my lack of ignorence to light.:p

Wow, and to think I was having the wool pulled over my eyes all this time;)

Get real!

Whenever I am having a bad day (or a good one for that matter) I think about the great knives I have coming when they are ready. Makes me smile:D

I just cannot believe someone would bash Lamey, or any other maker over some delay.

Give me a call or e-mail "womb", I would be happy to discuss Matt's (and other's) time constraints. (808) 283-6429

Wombslider:

What you don't seem to realize is that Bladeforums is a pretty unique place. We have a great group here, with very few exceptions. The exceptions seem to either straighten up or fade away. Either way, it works out fine. A lot of deals take place, a lot of opinions are offered. Sometimes a deal can get screwed up or an opinion raises a few eyebrows, but among the "good folks", we work it all out and support each other. The issue here isn't Matt Lamey, we all know he's a great, hardworking, trustworthy guy. The issue is you and you'll either straighten up or fade away. Either way, it'll work out fine.

Wombslider72, not only have you poisoned your relationship with this maker, you've probably poisoned the well too. What maker, having read your above posts, is going to want to deal with you? The maker who serviced you will probably be your last. Too bad.

I gave him a chance, he didn't come through, so I took my business elsewhere.

So that should have been the end of it. There was absolutely no need to slam Matt the way you did in a public forum. Being a custom knifemaker involves alot of time and work. Obviously Matt has been doing something right! He has back orders coming out his ass. So before you go slamming another maker that doesn' drop what he is doing to make your knife, may I suggest you look at what it takes to make knifemaking a lively hood. Maybe then you will realize the effort it takes.

It looks like Wombslider has left the biulding, which I think is a good idea since he didn't have enough respect to come and straighten this out. I know it's not a practiced routine but could an exception be made to delete this entire thread. The heading alone is in very bad taste as well as the rest of the thread. Matts work is outstanding and his way of business is of a gentleman. Thanks alot Mike

I'd like to second that motion. This troll takes a one-time cheap shot and runs--and Matt ends up saddled with this undeserved reminder. Can't we just remove the whole thing, please?

Thanks,
Will

I thought I had answered that in this thread already, but it was in another recent thread:

The moderators don't delete complaints here. If they're justified they should remain on the forum for anyone considering doing business with that company to see; if they're unjustified they should remain on the forum for everyone to see if the same person keeps posting unjustified complaints about everybody and his hamster.

Okay, I can see that. No cover-ups, and as long as all complaints are treated the same, everybody knows what's what. It's a good policy.

Actually, other than the title and the troll's tirade, this thread has turned into a pretty nice Matt Lamey tribute. I guess anyone who takes the time to read it will learn PDQ what Matt's reputation is around these forums.

Thanks, Cougar, for doing a thankless job with your typical patience, grace and skill.

What Cougar said!!

Will, I emailed you before I saw Cougars last post, so I know you understand why we don't delete threads or posts.

Thanks for the heads up, though.

Gosh, you know I realize that by responding here, Mr Wombslider may not order from me either...oh darn.

Matt, went to your site, got some gorgeous knives there, keep it up.

I hate to admit this, but its not always easy balancing making the knives, talking with customers, cleaning the house, spending time with family, going to the grocery store, ordering supplies, and the 4 million other things that we all do in a given day. I dont like the fact that I have missed deadlines in the past, and have again missed some ( hey I've been sick ), but have found that most customers are cool about it if you communicate with them.

Computers make life easier sometimes, but with viruses, power outages, etc. losing stuff or missing emails happens.

A Custom knife transaction should be a two way street.

The buyer should want a knife made by a dedicated and skilled artisan who will put his blood and sweat in his work.

The maker should sell to a reasonable and responsible person who can appreciate the gift and art that he is about receive.

This appreciation should include the understanding that such knives take time and energy and that there were many who came before this one buyer and that they deserve priority simply because they were there first and may have already paid a retainer or deposit.

I think Matt should NOT sell to the likes of WombSlider because it would reflect upon him badly to have such an immature and unreasonable person own his art.

To Matt's credit, he has remained calm and courteous. If it were me, I would have given the Strider Response... "F*ck Off"!

Matt, you may have lost Wombslider's business, but I'd say you may have gained much more. I wish you the best of luck and would like you to know that I will certainly consider purchasing your work in the future.

Mr. Lamey, perhaps you did not communicate with this guy in what he considers a timely manner.

How you responded to his attack was truly gentlemanly and that is one of the highest forms of business standards.

Hats off to you, sir.

Matt has actually treated me very well. I had him make a knife for me and it took longer than I had originally been told but I don't really care. I have time. When the knife was done, I didn't like it. Matt said "no problem" and sold or is selling the knife to someone who likes the blade that he made. He'll make one that is more to my liking this next time around, I'm sure. Now that I've told him more exactly what I'd like (one of his older designs), I'm sure that I'll get it. I have been moved back since he's working on knives for other people, but that's ok, too. He made my knife and I didn't like it so it's fine by me that I'm farther down the list. There have been plenty of phone calls that Matt didn't return but, again, I don't care. For every minute he spends on the phone, that's one minute that he's not working on my knife. I enjoy my conversations with him but it wouldn't bother me at all if he didn't call me until the knife is done.

I'm sure that it got irritating for the original poster but name-calling isn't really something that needs to be done. Bored and not interested in your business? Maybe he wasn't interested in it? Maybe you wanted something that he didn't want to make but didn't want to be rude to you (at least from his point of view)? Maybe he WAS bored. Making knives day after day has got to get old after a while.

Lighten up. Give the facts and let others judge but there's no need for name-calling.

Thanks for all the support, i do appreciate the time and effort it took each of you to post. I have emailed wombslider with no response. I have tried to figure out who he is from my old saved emails, and can not. If your reading this have the courage to email or call so i can remove your request from the computer.

To all those that are waiting patiently, thank you. Your patience will be rewarded as i wont move the price on you and yourlikely to get something "extra". I hope to be cuaght up this summer, completely.

Ive said this before, the hardest part of making knives isnt the knives, its the paperwork.
