Scandi Passaround Routing

It looks like this passaround in over.

Hi Stomper -

Well, as a first step, I would (if I were you) contact Spark, and let him know about this.

Per the rules, myright will be banned from the forum, and will lose his remaining gold membership subscription.

His name and address should be posted in the GBU forum to warn other members who would contemplate a passaround that would include that fellow in the future, should he re-join with another name.

Where does this fellow live? If it is near another member, perhaps someone could visit and just ask for the knife so that the passaround could continue on from here.

It does suck, so I guess the only way to resolve these issues is to only include trusted, known members in passarounds.

That will make it tough for new guys (like me) to get involved in them, but makers cannot afford to lose knives to unscrupulous members.

best regards -

This situation is unfortunate but I hope it does not spoil Stomper's willingness to do these or the ability of some of us newer guys to participate in the future. Maybe there should be some sort of criterion to participate, # of posts here, existing customer, etc..

I agree with mqqn, it is a raw deal.

I was not involved in this pass around but this situation definitely sucks! I feel really sorry for John and everyone who did not get their turn with the knife. I hope that the kitchen knife pass around and future passarounds will not have this problem.

As far as criteria for participating I think that will be difficult, since a high post count does not equal reliability, and limiting it to existing customers would cut out potential new customers. Maybe limit it to people who have been good customers to other makers?

Yeah Noah, criterion would be tough and you make some good points as to why. I guess a situation like this has to involve some innate level of trust and there aren't too many ways of ensuring that trust will not be betrayed unfortunately.

man.. what a bummer John... sorry to hear about, i hope Myright pulls through....:thumbdn: i really liked this knife a lot..

It`s my impression that something must have happened to myright, this is just not like him. He lives in Delaware, if anyone is near him. In future passarounds phone numbers will be required, it`s easier than just email.

Hi Stomper -

I also agree with this - I looked all over and there are several posts in GBU for myright - all good.

I emailed Esav, as he had dealings with myright in the past and may know him better.

I'll be in Delaware in October.

I certainly hope that myright has not come to any harm.

Perhaps a post in the community - or general - to see if anyone personally knows this fellow.

I do believe he said he was going to Disney Land and wanted to get the knife sent out before that trip.

I guess the right thing to do is to pursue getting in touch with him via the phone or friends etc to see what his situation is - i.e. is he in the hospital, out of town for a family death etc.etc.

It is nice to give the benefit of the doubt, so in that vein, we'll just say the passaround is stalled?

Since mqqn emailed me, I emailed myright in turn. Let's see what turns up. He did seem to be a good guy, and I have had people respond when they didn't respond to others.

Thank you very much, Esav!

We appreciate your assistance.

Once again - sorry for the hold up, fellas. Sometimes life just gets in the way. I've had some challenges combined with a new kid that will be here in the next week so I haven't had a chance to do much. I appreciate the kind words and not bashing me for holding this up. I hope this didn't ruin my good reputation on here all that much. I'm normally very, very good with shipping on time and promptly.

Stomper - great knife
mqqn - sorry for the heartburn, my friend

Like I said - i'll stay out of passarounds in the future.

Hi myright -

It shows a lot of class to come here an apologize.

I think we all were worried that something may have happened to you, and we are glad that you were ok, and also that the little Scandi was passed forward.

Stuff happens.

I would not totally eliminate passarounds from your future if you want to participate.

Good luck with your new baby, and I hope you stick around and participate in Stomper's forum.

If you did get a chance to use the Scandi, you can also post your impressions of the knife etc.

In the end, all that happened was an extended intermission in the passaround, and all is well now!

I totally agree with what mqqn said. You are more than welcome to participate again. We were worried about you, we have had dealings in the past with great communication, this was not the norm for you.

What a great group of people on this forum! Thanks, from the bottom of my heart.
